Lemon and cucumber waterDid you know that when caring for black skin, water can actually work wonders and provide a mini detox for your skin as well as your body? It can help to plump up your skin and give it a nice glow. What water does is increase hydration which improves your bodies assimilation of food, vitamins and nutrients as well as waste elimination.

In order to raise your vitality, you’ll need enough water to replenish and turn over the water molecules in your body’s cells so you don’t feel sluggish and your cells are not stagnant. When you don’t have enough water, your skin will suffer. Water is so important that it evaporates from your skin each day, so you have to make sure you drink a minimum of 8 glasses a day or half of your body’s weight in ounces. This way you can stay hydrated for the sake of your health and skin.

When you drink warm water, this is a way of cleansing and eliminating impurities from your body and it’s also one of the simplest ways to change your body and skin for the better.  Lemon essential oils are being used in exfoliating products as a way of cleansing and toning your skin while removing dead skin cells.

I’ll Take Mine With Lemon!

What can actually boost collagen and firm your skin naturally? Lemon added to your water. We’ve all heard of adding fresh squeezed lemon juice in your water and how, for a lot of you, you tell me it helps you detox and how it helps your bowel move better and how much better your skin looks when you drink your lemon water.

Well, lemon is rich in vitamin C and when you add it to your water it’s one of the simplest ways to stimulate the collagen in your skin and to keep your skin firm and healthy. One of the things that drinking water in general will do (especially lemon water) is that it has the ability to cleanse as well as firm and tone your skin.

When you drink it on a daily basis, it makes a huge difference in the appearance of your skin in the way it looks. Lemon water is also known to boost your metabolism and help eliminate fats. It can also act as an anti-aging remedy that, for some, has helped in removing black heads. On top of all of that, lemon water, for some of you, has helped you get energy from the foods you’re eating.

So when you look at just how important water in general is, it is the main contributing factor to keeping your body, hair and skin hydrated. You can also add to your water to change the flavoring naturally. Lemon slices (make sure you clean the skin of the lemon really well), orange slices (the same cleaning applies), you can also take the peel off a cucumber, slice the cucumber into pieces and use that to flavor your water.

If you are fortunate enough to work from home, you can make this one of your morning chores that you do by setting up a ½ gallon to a gallon container and slicing/squeezing your lemon juice into it, on another day oranges and on another day cucumbers. The key is to make sure you get good clean water into your system. Spring water is excellent, alkaline water too. Use it for hydrating your body, which hydrates your cells, organs and your beautiful black skin.  For those of you that feel lemon is to acidic, you can always us Lime instead. That’s it for this week!

Until next time, as always …
