Natural Hair Serum for African American HairWhen you look at what a serum is, serums nourish, replenish and nurture whether it’s your skin or hair. But when you’re looking at the nourishing and nurturing of your hair, you’re not only looking at caring for the hair itself, you’re also caring for your scalp which is the skin that the hair follicle comes through.

The better you take care of your scalp, the better result you’re going to get as far as the use of any given product but particularly a serum.

Why do people use serums?

Serums enhance the healthiness of your hair. You can also make them so you can customize them to treat certain things. Some people say that alopecia can’t be treated, but there are cases where a certain blend of different hair oils and essential oils have renewed the growth process in your scalp and allowed hair growing back again.

Thinning edges is another condition that’s treated from the use of hair serums. When you take into account the thinning temples, and for some it’s not always the temples, but the hair thins from the back of your head, serums are used to stimulate hair growth in this area.

A lot of you are looking for solutions to this particular challenge. Using certain base oils like jojoba and olive oil, vitamin E oil and some essential oils that are geared toward new hair growth. When they’re all put together in one component, it makes a great product for keeping that thinning area moisturized so it doesn’t break and pop as easily.

Don’t Forget About Nutrition

One important note when it comes to healthy hair and skin is the role that nutrition plays.  When you use topical products, they are actually enhancing what is taking place internally. Green foods feed and nourish your cells.  Your cells feed and nourish your body, thereby creating beautiful hair and skin.

If you’re drinking water that’s going to keep you hydrated internally. If you’re eating green foods they will feed you from a cellular level. If you’re not contaminating your body with cigarettes, cigars or marijuana, that’s a good thing.

All of these things at some point in time can cause your body to dehydrate and when that happens it will not produce the healthiest of cells. Therefore when that hair comes through that follicle, it’s already at a disadvantage because it was produced in an unhealthy environment.

So you take nutrition into account when it comes to any factor of healthy hair and skin. Hair serums also allow you to do special treatments to your scalp like hot oil treatments, where you can have a certain oil blend in carrier oils and apply this to your scalp. Put a shower cap on and allow it to steam, put a clear cap on and sit under the dryer allowing it to penetrate your scalp for 15-20 minutes at a time. All of this is part of stimulating your scalp and stimulating the hair follicles itself.

Protecting Your Hair While You Sleep

When you go through all of the trouble to use your serums to nourish your hair and scalp and you don’t consider how you’re going to care for your scalp at night when you sleep, it’s as though you’re washing out what you’ve done.

By that I mean making sure you sleep in some kind of silk or satin hair cover. It protects your scalp from roughness on your pillow case that would pop it because everything has been confined now under that cap so it’s all in one place during the night.

So when you take the cap off the next morning, there’s not a lot of combing and tugging that has to be done to your hair because your hair hasn’t gotten disheveled throughout the night.

A few More Words on Serums …

Look at your serums as a way to nourish, nurture, replenish and hydrate our scalp. When you do that you’ll be providing a component of hair care to your weekly beauty regimen that will eventually have you seeing a very healthy head of hair. You’ll have a full head of hair and a head of hair that’s naturally beautiful because you’ve put a lot of care into getting it from point A to B.

The mirror is now showing you what happens when you’re patient and care for the beauty of natural black hair.
