Exfoliate Your Way to Brighter Skin, Naturally!

You’ve spent the last few weeks reading about a basic facial regimen and why it’s important for your skin. The care doesn’t stop with cleansing, toning and moisturizing, these three steps are only the beginning.

With the influence of healing herbs, essential oils and powerful plant extracts, you can take the black skin care to another level. You’re now ready to introduce facial scrubs or exfoliators, serums and mask. We’ll take a look at these treatments and you’ll learn about their benefits and how to implement them into your black skin care regimen.

Let’s begin with:

Facial Scrubs/Exfoliation – Exfoliators are used to gently remove dead skin cells from your upper skin layer. You’ll find ingredients such as sugar, finely ground salt, potent powdered herbs, ground nuts, pulverized apricot kernels and jojoba wax beads.

When used properly, they uncover a radiant, healthy-looking skin tone that you’ll be able to see in minutes, okay – days.

Facial scrubs can help restore your complexion showing a visibly improved skin texture and clarity. You can exfoliate using a facial scrub at least twice a week. They’re good for all skin types and should be combined with nourishing oils such as jojoba oil.

Some of the benefits of facial scrubs are:

  • Removal of dead skin cells
  • Combat blemishes
  • Reduces discoloration
  • Softens your skin
  • Polish away uneven dry patches for a perfect, even-toned complexion
  • Help reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, sagging skin, fine lines and wrinkles.

Facial Mask offer numerous benefits depending on the requirements of your skin. Facial mask can help purify blemish prone skin. They also tighten pores on oily skin, revitalize dry skin and can soothe sensitive skin.

Choosing the right mask for your face and skin type is important. Looking for the perfect pick-me-up for tired, dull looking skin? Look for products that contain nourishing ingredients such as honey, Shea butter, cocoa butter and rosehip seed oil.

Essential oils such as helichrysum and rose added to gentle clay’s like rhassoul and kaolin are great for bringing like to dull skin. Many face masks are formulated with clay’s and oils and treatment time can be up to an hour.
General rule of thumb is to give yourself or have a mask treatment done in a spa at least every 2 weeks.

Mask for oily and acne prone skin benefit from ingredients like Fuller’s Earth clay, bentonite, clay activated charcoal and neem leaf powder. Essential oils such as peppermint, tea tree and lemongrass are great for helping to extract excess oils when used in the different clay’s.

Sensitive, dry and mature skin will benefit from ingredients that are made with rich butters, nourishing oils and gentle clay’s. You’ll also find that chamomile and lavender essential oils are a great addition as well as honey, fresh cream and oatmeal.

There are areas that are not meant to have mask applied to them. Those areas include the delicate area around your eyes. Mask can actually dry your skin out if applied around your eyes.

Face serums are used to nourish and replenish your skin. When made with ingredients such as essential oils, jojoba oil, rosehip and aloe vera, you’ve got a working combination that’s bound to benefit your skin. Facial serums can actually be used on a daily basis, however, this will depend on your skin type and why you are using it.

Now you’ve got an idea of what a complete regimen looks like when caring for your beautiful black skin. Your basic regimen of cleansing, toning and moisturizing is what you’ll do on a daily basis. You’ll then bring in a facial scrub/exfoliators, facial mask and face serum.
