Beautiful Black Skin-2It’s bound to happen, sunburned skin that is. No matter how much sunblock, sunscreen and anything else you can slather all over your body, if you’re exposed to the rays of the sun too long, you’re going to get burned.

There are quite a few natural ways that have been tried and proven true by many to work on sunburned skin. Don’t allow the fun of summer in the sun to ruin your beautiful black skin.

Let’s take a look at a few natural ingredients used in soothing sunburned skin.

Aloe – You all know about Aloe Vera. It’s used in so many personal care products until it’s the new go to ingredient. When you’ve laid out in the sun too long, the cool gel from a chilled leaf is soothing to your throbbing skin.

Oatmeal – Not only is oatmeal good for keeping your cholesterol down, it makes the perfect paste for sunburned skin. You can also add it to your bath and its properties will work well on your skin.

Honey – The hydrator for skin, applying honey to your burned skin will prove to be soothing and calming for inflamed skin. Add a few drops of lavender essential oil, and you just might find that your skin will heal quicker and not leave any scaring.

Cucumbers – While cucumbers are great when added to water, they also make a soothing treatment for sunburned skin. Cucumbers are often used as natural peels to remove dead skin cells. Using them on your skin can help speed up the process of removing the dead skin from the sunburn.

Milk – The fat, protein and pH of milk have been known to have a soothing anti-inflammatory effect on your skin. So a cool compress applied three times a day for five minutes to sunburned skin will be a welcomed treat.

Apple Cider Vinegar – One or two cups of apple cider vinegar added to your bath water will help neutralize sunburn. Give it about 10 minutes in the tub and you could be like so many others that have restored their skin’s pH levels with a cool bath of apple cider vinegar.

Apple cider vinegar has also been know to help in preventing peeling and blistering when used to treat sunburned skin.

Baking Soda – Like apple cider vinegar, baking soda is known to help restore your skin’s pH level and calm sunburned skin. Esthetician’s keep it close by in the event a treatment causes inflamed skin.

Of course your best option is to avoid getting sunburned altogether. Try making your beach hours early in the morning or late afternoon, early evening. You’ll be surprised at how much the water reflects the sun’s rays .

That’s it for this week. As always …
