Strike a pose with yoga and find your omDid You Strike a Pose With Yoga and Find Your OM?

Can you strike a pose with yoga and find your Om? Overtime and with the right guidance, you can definitely find your Om in a yoga pose. Twist, bends, side bends, back bends and balance poses are all part of a given yoga class. You will ultimately achieve them all if you approach it like the tortoise … slow and steady.

Once perceived as a way to achieve oneness with mind, body and spirit, yoga has become a lifestyle choice that can help you achieve your goal of oneness and fitness in the same class. Yoga is considered a practice and rightfully so. It is a form of breathing, stretching and meditation that is practiced on a daily basis.  Yoga is also considered a form of strength training.

Finding the Right Style and Practice of Yoga When Striking Your Pose and Finding Your Om

This will come from experimenting with the different styles The main type of classes taught are:

Anusara – This form of yoga works with assessing your flow of energy in your body while still focusing on your breath and alignment.

Ashtanga  is a more fast paced athletic type of class that involves a series of asanas. Asanas are postured that strengthen your muscles and relieve pain in your physical body to prepare it for seated meditation.

Bikram also known as hot yoga, is done in a room heated to 105 degrees or warmer. This form gives flexibility to tight muscles, something that athletes appreciate.

Kundalini yoga is known for wearing white in class. This practice focuses on breath and your energy systems in your body as opposed to structure. Developed by Yogi Bhajan to help energize your body, boost digestion and reduce headaches.

Power Yoga is all about flowing. It’s the type of yoga to raise your heart rate and make you feel as if you’ve gotten a good workout.

Striking a Pose During Pregnancy

Athletes understand the importance of allowing the sport to determine their choice of yoga and pose. Pregnant moms should do the same. Start slow and listen to your body. If your pregnancy has you feeling a bit like an out-of-body experience, yoga can possibly help you find balance and strength with your growing belly.  Get permission from your attending physician and give yoga a try.

The idea of striking a pose with yoga is to find a way to relax.   Don’t force your pose, move into it gradually and overtime you’ll feel more flexible.  That’s it for this week.  As always …
