It’s been a while since I actually gave myself a head over the bowl, steam rising, towel covering the head facial steam. Don’t get me wrong, I still get great facial steams, it’s just that they’re now incorporated into my spa visits.
My daughter and I take mini breaks by going to the spa. It’s one of those Korean Spas that allow you to take your time and not feel rushed through each service. This is typically my massage, exfoliation and hot steam day of pampering. By the time they finish with my body scrub and massage, they have to hold me by the arm and guide me to the locker room door.
My spa day begins with a shower after we arrive. The facial steam is actually part of a full body steam. You see, I go into the hot wet sauna. The steam can sometimes be overwhelming. It is also the best thing that happens to my skin. I sweat, sometimes cry but I can actually feel the transformation my body is going through.
It dawned on me that I should really give myself more steam facials between spa visits. My spa visits can occur anywhere from three to six months. And I thought, you’ve got to do this more often. I used too … what happened? Life!!!
Using Steam Facials to Get Your Glow Back
Facial steams not only open up your pores to release all of the gook that’s been impacted for years, they can smell oh so amazing.
Okay Life, it’s time to slow down and get back to living again. With that being said, I’m going to share a couple of simple recipes for facial steams.
Essential oil for steam facials
You can get essential oils and find your way into bliss. A few drops, 2 to 3, in hot water will provide you with, soft, smooth, sensual skin. Lavender is a great oil to have for your steam facials.
Dried Flower Facial Steam
Here’s what you’ll need:
Dried chamomile
Dried rose petals/buds
Dried lavender
Dried calendula
A Large Bowl
3-4 cups f water
A towel
Here’s what you do next:
Combine equal parts of your dried flowers. Place a spoonful into a large bowl. Bring your water to a boil and pour it over your floral blend. Grab your towel and drop it over your head creating a tent over the bowl. Be careful not to stick your head too deep, you could burn yourself. You’ll want to do this for about 12-15 minutes. Make sure you’re taking deep breathes outside the bowl. After about 12-15 minutes, rinse your face with warm water.
Do this regimen at least twice a month and you’ll see a drastic difference in your skin. Okay … that’s it for this week. As always …
