As the weather warms up you’ll be looking for those lightweight items that will have you springing forward in high style. I’m sure your basics are in place – the black linen pant, the white shirt/blouse, the colorful shawl and the denim jacket. But, what can you add this year to give your wardrobe an update, “The Look” for the Spring Season?

Here’s What Trending:

Color – How can you spring forward in style without bold bright and pastel colors? Red, gold, blue, purple, teal, violet and pale pink top the list of color choices for your spring wardrobe. Everything from denim shirts to silk skirts, you’ll find a collection of color combinations offering unique options for high spring styles.

Tulle! – That’s right, the fabric Tutu’s and bridal gowns are made of. Only this year, you’re not only wearing tulle as a tutu or bridal gown, you’re wearing it as a ball gown for the most formal affairs. Not to mention as a one layer skirt over short shorts with a tube top and denim jacket. That’s how you take tulle to the edgy side of fashion.

Fringe – Personally I haven’t been on a fringe binge since the 70’s. Oh wow, did I just give me age away? That doesn’t stop the fashion industry from bringing back old looks in new fabrics. The 70’s gave us fringed suede and leather jackets, skirts and pants. Now you’re being given fringe in everything from costumes to formal wear and everyday dresses, skirts and pants.  The roaring 20’s flapper style dresses are getting a makeover with fringe and metallic.

Patent Leather – Not just in summer shoes! Patent leather is making its debut this spring season in shorts, vest, rain coats, dresses and handbags. Colors include, bright yellow, red – of course, black, purple, green and orange.

Plaids – Yes plaids are back in a preppy sort of way. Small plaids, bold plaids and all in between plaids, they’re part of the looks for spring. Here’s the thing about wearing plaids this season, you’ll be seeing them mixed and matched with each other in all kind of color waves.

Floral – What’s spring without a floral print? Just like plaids, you’ll see bold flowers, small flowers and all in between sized flowers. And yes, you’ll see floral and plaids being worn together creating a very interesting look for spring.

Other Spring Chic Styles to Consider

Pastels, bohemian chic, beach wear and all in between are part of what’s trending for this spring season. For day and evening, you’ll be able to create your own unique look and set new trends based on how you put your pieces together. Who knows, you could be the next street style trendsetter being photographed for publication in a magazine.

That’s it for this week. As always …
