When we mention omega-3 and Black Skin Care, the first thing that comes to mind is some type of fish oil. You might envision capsules filled with vitamin E or cod liver oils or having a great piece of grilled, poached or baked salmon, over a bed of mixed greens. Well ….
Not today! …… This time it’s the Walnut. That’s right, walnuts have earned this prestigious honor because they are an excellent source of omega-3 essential fatty acids.
There are three main type of walnuts: English, White and Black. In the United States, the English walnut is the most popular because of its thinner shell and pleasant flavor.
A great way to enjoy the flavor of walnuts is through the foods that we eat. The next time you make banana nut bread or spice up a cup of oatmeal, make that nut, walnuts.
The omega-3 fatty acids that are found in walnuts are good for fighting inflammatory skin issues, such as eczema and psoriasis. Eating walnuts can help improve the smoothness of your skin because of the lineolic acid, that’s known to help maintain the skins structure.
The shells of the walnut are often ground up into a powder and used as an exfoliant for your skin. Skin care products are also created from the extract of the leaves and can be used for its astringent and conditioning properties for your skin.
Soooooo ……the next time you feel like having a nut, make it a walnut. Your beautiful black skin will love you for it.
