Drink Your Way To Beautiful Black Skin
Drink Your Way To Beautiful Black Skin

You all know someone, heard or read about someone juicing to loose weight or detoxify their body. But one of the best things to come out of juicing is how well your beautiful black skin looks by the time you’re done.

I was shopping the other day at the farmer’s market and saw a woman with her juicing recipe book opened onto of her shopping cart. Of course I asked her why the book and not just make a list.

For her the images were more encouraging than a list and made shopping more fun. As it turns out we were both shopping for foods that would enhance the beauty of our skin but she wanted to lose an extra 15 pounds.

We compared notes and came up with great recipes. I like to refer to them as skin tonics that give your beautiful black skin a healthy glow.

The same day my daughter brought home a natural drink for me to try, it had beets, apple, spinach, cucumber, ginger and parsley. It was really good but a bit too sweet for me. I never thought I’d ever say something was too sweet for me to eat or drink.

So I had to recreate it so that I could enjoy it with less sugar, even though it was natural. Here’s what I came up with:

Morning Green Drink

a few leaves of kale
1/2 medium cucumber
5 to 6 parsley sprigs
1 small beet
1 apple, (I use gala or fuji, you might like it more tart)
1/4 lemon wedge (leave peel on)
1/2 piece of ginger

Run everything through your juicer and hears to your health.

Spicy Tomatoes and Fennel

If you like or have a garden full of tomatoes, here’s a great way to enjoy them:

2 tomatoes (if large, 3 – 4 if small)
handful of spinach
2 celery stalks
1/2 bulb of fennel bulb
2 garlic cloves
1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

Run everything through a juicer

Virgin Apple Strawberry Daiquiri

Who drinks more juice than your children? A natural blend of :

2 fuji apples,
10 to 12 organic strawberries and
1 lime

This is packed with tons of Vitamin C and is a great source of potassium, phosphorus, calcium, manganese, magnesium, iron and zinc. Don’t let your children have all the fun with this drink, make it part of your juicing recipes. This drink can be frozen and made into popsicles.

Young Looking  Skin Smoothie:

What better way to have dewey glowing skin than to to drink a smoothie Rich in antioxidants. Pineapple and papaya are two of the ingredients in this smoothie and also contain strong digestive enzymes.

5 ounces of coconut water
1/2 ripe banana (peeled of course)
1/2 cup peeled pineapple chunks
1/4 cup of peeled pitted mango chunks
1 heaping tablespoon of soaked flaxseeds.

Put this group through the blender and enjoy a smoothie made to give you glowing skin.

Pina Colada for Your Skin

No juicing regimen would be worth its weight in gold if it didn’t contain Pina Colada, the healthy way:

1/2 cup basil leaves
1 cup of fresh spinach (organic whenever possible)
1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
3 cups cubed pineapple
1 tablespoon coconut oil
2 tablespoons unsweetened shredded coconut
20 grams of protein powder or 1 to 2 bananas

Blend basil leaves, spinach and milk together until smooth. Then add remaining ingredients and blend until smooth again.

That’s it for this week, as always …
