Maturing Black Men, Do You Need A Skin Care Routine

The O.G. And His Skin Care Routine

Maturing Black men? My husband tells me all the time that he’s an O.G. I Do Not argue with him. Why? Because he’s right! He’s my O. G. – Old Goat

Yes, as some men mature, they become so cool, their feet don’t touch the ground. Hence, they refer to themselves as O. G’s. Does the O.G. need a skin care routine? Yes!

Not only do you need to take care of your skin, but the skin of Black Men needs extra special attention as you age. Aging skin produces fewer natural oils and looses some elasticity, leading to dryness and wrinkles. The skin of Black Men requires a tailored skin care regimen so that it can stay healthy looking as you “mature”.

Unfortunately, many of you may not see the neccessity of a regimen, that can help you stay on top of your skin care needs. While this is a problem, there are steps that you can take to make sure your skin looks and feels great as you “mature”.

Steps To A Great Skin Care Routine For Maturing Black Men

First, it’s important to keep your skin clean and moisturized. Use a cleanser formulated for the skin of Black men. This will help remove excess oils and dirt that can build up during the day. After washing, use a light moisturizer to hydrate your skin and give it a natural glow.

Yes, you like your glow as much as Black Women.

Second, consider using an exfoliating scrub once or twice a week. This will help slough off dead skin cells and reveal brighter, healthier looking skin underneath.

Third, use an SPF-containing sunscreen every single day – even in the winter! Sun damage can cause a lot of skin issues including wrinkles, dark spots, and dryness. Make sure you choose one that is specifically formulated for your skin type, with an SPF of at least 30.

Finally, when you can, get a professional facial. Book an appointment with an esthetician who can recommend tailored treatments that will help keep your skin looking and feeling its best.

Nutrition and The Skin of Maturing Black Men

In addition to developing a great skin care routine, you should also make sure you’re following healthy eating habits. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, drinking lots of water, and limiting sugary foods will all help keep your skin looking vibrant and youthful as you age.

Summing Things Up …

Maturing Black Men, yes you need a skin care routine. Make sure to keep your skin clean and moisturized, exfoliate weekly and use an SPF-containing sunscreen every day. Additionally, don’t forget about the importance of nutrition for healthy looking skin. With these steps in place, you’ll be able to maintain glowing, youthful-looking skin as you get older.

So go ahead O.G., treat yourself with a quality skin care regimen and keep that youthful glow for years to come. You deserve it. Love life, love your skin. Be an O.G. with a youthful glow. It’s the way to go!

That’s it for this week. As always …
