Caring for Black Skin during the holiday season?
As you prepare for all the festivities, don’t forget to give extra love and care to your beautiful black skin.
With the colder weather, stress from traveling and indulgent meals, your skin may need a little extra TLC during this time.
Here are some tips for keeping your melanin-rich skin glowing and radiant throughout the holiday season. There’s nothing here you haven’t read before. However, in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, some of you have shared that you have a tendency to put things ( your skin care regimen) on the back burner. Please don’t!
The key to healthy and supple skin is moisture. With the dry and harsh winter weather, it’s important to keep your skin hydrated by using a good moisturizer. Look for products that contain natural oils like jojoba, shea butter or coconut oil as they are great for nourishing and protecting your skin. Don’t forget to moisturize your entire body, including your hands and feet.
Serums are packed with powerful ingredients that target specific skin concerns. Look for ones that contain antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C for a healthy and glowing complexion.
As much as we love the holiday season, it also means colder temperatures. When you step outside, make sure to protect your skin by wearing gloves, scarves and a hat. These accessories not only keep you warm but also help protect your skin from the harsh winter elements.
Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you can skip out on sunscreen. UV rays are still present even when it’s cold and cloudy outside. Make sure to apply SPF every day, especially if you’ll be spending time outdoors for holiday activities such as skiing or ice skating.
Water is essential for not only your overall health but also for maintaining the health of your skin. With all the busy holiday festivities, it’s easy to forget to drink enough water. Remember to keep a water bottle with you at all times and aim to drink at least 8 glasses a day.
The holidays can be a hectic and stressful time, causing lack of sleep and fatigue. However, getting enough rest is crucial for the health of your skin. Lack of sleep can lead to dullness, breakouts and under-eye bags. Make sure to prioritize self-care and get enough rest during this busy season.
Don’t forget to show your lips some love during the holiday season. The cold weather can cause dry and chapped lips, so make sure to use a lip balm to protect them from the cold frigid temps.
In addition to these tips, don’t forget to continue with your regular skincare routine. Cleansing, exfoliating and using a toner should still be part of your daily routine. Also, try to limit your intake of sugary and fatty foods as they can contribute to skin issues such as acne.
Lastly, remember to embrace your beautiful black skin during this holiday season. It’s a time to celebrate and appreciate all aspects of ourselves, including our melanin-rich skin.
That’s it for this week. As always …
