What comes to mind when you think of Detoxing?  Is it hunger and liquid-only dieting? Do you also wonder how long the benefits will last and whether or not it’s worth it to even attempt to detox your body?

There are so many detox programs and the good news is that following a detox program doesn’t have to be difficult or confusing.

Benefits of Detoxing for Black Skin Care

There are many benefits to Detoxing when you do it correctly.  Detoxing your body is a great way to reset a sluggish digestive system, clean your liver, colon, intestines and kidneys.  A good detox will also boost your immune system.

When your body is overloaded with toxins, it’s unable to filter impurities and becomes overrun and blocked which can cause discomfort, sickness, disease and skin problems.

Each day your body is introduced to toxins, through chemicals and pesticides in your food, pollutants in the air and chemicals in the air.

You body will naturally eliminate some toxins but a good body detox will help in eliminating toxins more efficiently when you become overly congested.

Weight Loss – During your detox, toxins that have been stored up in your body are being released from your body and your cells.  This helps to rid your body of unwanted weight and better absorb nutrients when functioning at an optimal level. When you introduce nutritious foods not only is it good for your weight but your health as well.

Mood Swings – A good detox can increase your energy, improve your attitude and alertness.  When your body becomes bogged down with toxins they can affect your ability to function at your best.  This can cause headaches, moodiness and depression.  It may also cause you to have sleepless nights and cloudy thinking which can affect your career, relationships and productivity.

Skin – When your system and your organs become congested your skin becomes affected as well.  The foods you eat and your environment play an important role in the health of your skin. Food nourishes from the inside and outside, the better you eat the better your skin will appear. As a Dark skinned beauty you understand why topical skin care and internal skin care bring about a whole body experience.

How Do I Start My Detox Program?

With so many detox programs to choose from it can send you into overwhelm.  But no need to stress yourself out and no need to spend four arms and three legs looking for the best one.

Before you begin any detox program, it’s a good idea to consult a physician, especially if you’re pregnant, nursing or have any chronic diseases.

Eat Lots of Green Foods – One of the best ways to start a detox is with lots of raw, “organic “ fruits and vegetables.  Organic foods are important all the time but especially during a cleanse.  If you’re in the process of ridding your system of toxins, it would be counteractive to eat foods treated with pesticides and chemicals.  Foods lose their nutrients when cooked so it’s best to eat them raw during a detox cleanse.

Eat at least two meals a day that contain raw vegetables and be careful not to overcook vegetable when you do cook them.

Vegetables are packed with many important nutrients such as potassium and fiber.  Vegetables such as kale, collard greens, broccoli, brussels sprouts and cabbage will help with Detoxing your liver.

Fruits are a great source of antioxidants, fiber, potassium, vitamin c and so much more.

Fruits help enhance your skin’s hydration and enhance its radiance.
•    Citrus fruits are full of vitamin c, potassium and citric acid, great for your skin.
•    Apples help prevent cell and tissue damage, they also contain collagen, elastin and pectin.
•    Pomegranates and berries are packed with antioxidants, contain vitamin A and beta carotene and fight free radicals.

Eaten on an empty stomach, fruits provide the nutrients, simple sugars and fiber that can be easily processed. When fruit is eaten after a meal, it stays on your stomach too long and may rot and ferment.  Fruit is better if eaten in the mornings, one hour before your meal or two hours after your meal.

There are many methods for detoxing your body. Whether you take your fruits and vegetables in as whole foods or in juice form, they provide the right amount of nutrients for your body and will make you feel so much better in the long run.
