Your hair is like a collection of extremely fine and delicate fibers and it should be properly taken cared of with much gentleness as you would to your precious china. If you know how to care for natural black hair, you would be able to achieve a better looking and shiny hair.

You can section it, tie it on your back or wrap with a scarf before you go to sleep at night in order to reduce the risks of frizzy tangles that are very difficult to comb out when you wake up in the morning. This practice will also decrease the risk of hair breakage that will further damage your hair. Alternatively, you can also use a hair cap or a pillow with satin silk case to prevent split ends that you would otherwise have when you rub your hair against a rougher surface like cotton for example. Moisture from your hair is also better preserved with this practice thus making your hair beautiful the next morning.

If your hair tends to go dry when you wash it then make it to a habit that you shampoo it no more than two times  a week.   Also make sure that you apply a conditioner and moisturizer every other day. Comb out your hair when you apply conditioner and moisturizers so that you can safely remove the tangles.

It’s strongly recommended that you  treat your hair with hot oil once a month and regular massaging of your scalp to stimulate natural hair production. If you happen to sweat a lot, you can rinse out your hair but apply a leave-on conditioner after,  so that your hair won’t be hardened  from the salt in your sweat. Learning how to care for natural black hair is usually a process that requires common sense.

Avoid too much heat on your hair,  such as curling irons, flat irons, blow dryers and other equipment because they are usually very damaging to your hair. Alcohol-based products are a big no-no because it tends to dry out your scalp which in essence removes the moisture. Remember, moisture and natural oil is your hair’s best friend. Again, no or minimum use of hot irons, flat irons, blow dryers ….. Worst, you could even get flaky skin on your scalp because of this dryness.

Don’t forget a nutritious diet because vitamins and protein are essential when you are trying to grow your hair beautiful, strong and long. Nutritional supplements are good but they are usually not enough to promote proper hair growth.

That’s it for this week, Until Next time …
