Combination skinTaking care of your skin can be quite challenging if you have combination skin. This common skin type is still a mystery for lots of people.

Typically, combination skin is when a person has two or more different skin types at the same time. Your skin may be dry in some parts and oily in others.

Invest In a Good Toner for Your Skin

Invest in a good toner to shrink pores and get rid of excessive oils on your skin. Toning is especially important for combination skin as it helps restore balance to the pH levels of the skin. The ideal toner should be mild and must not contain irritants, such as menthol and fragrance oils. These ingredients are commonly found in toners. Invest in toners containing antioxidants and other cell communicating ingredients such as Aloe Vera leaf juice, vegetable glycerin and rosewater.

Invest In a Good Cleanser

While gel cleansers appear to be ideal for oily skins, cream cleansers work best for dry skin. For combination skin, you can safely use a cream cleanser at night and in the morning. They can be more gentle on your skin, especially when combined with Green Tea. Soap can be drying so don’t opt for it when trying to minimize oil. Darker skin tends to dry out easily so always end your beauty regimen by moisturizing.

Invest In Good Makeup

Good quality makeup might cost you a few extra dollars but it is totally worth it. Your makeup should be oil-free and non-comedogenic. Non-comedogenic products do not clog pores. This reduces excess oil secretion on your face and prevents acne breakouts. If you enjoy using mineral makeup, invest in products that are free of bismuth oxychloride. This chemical is known to irritate sensitive skin and causes breakouts.

Do Not Use Abrasive Scrubs

While it might seem like a good idea to rub your skin with an abrasive scrub to thoroughly cleanse the area, be gentle. A common trait of combination skin is oily areas. Avoid using harsh scrubs that might irritate your skin and result in further oil production. This will only make it more difficult for you to take good care of your skin and over time, your skin type might change from dry to excessively oily.

Natural Moisturizers

Use a natural moisturizer for soft and smooth skin. Want to try your creative hand at making your own moisturizer? Try combining one part glycerin and four parts distilled water for beautiful glowing skin. If your skin is combination oily, you’ll use your moisturizer very sparingly on the oily section.
