Boost your immune system. What a statement. You’ve read about strengthening and boosting your immune system.
Did you take it seriously? On its own, your immune system does a magnificent job of defending itself.
In today’s world of germs, virus’s and bacteria, your immune system is easily compromised.
Boosting and strengthening you immune system requires balance and harmony. While there are no scientifically proven links between lifestyle and your immune system, common sense says there is.
When you eat certain foods, exercise and get your rest, your skin and hair respond with a healthy glow. Why wouldn’t your immune system.
What does it mean to choose a healthy lifestyle? It means vying to do the things that are right for your body. Such as:
Eat a healthy diet of fruits and vegetables – This is a common sense approach, even if you’re maturing. The healthier you eat, the better your chance of you warding off any type of bacteria or virus floating around in the air. Add vitamins and minerals to your arsenal. You may not always have access to good quality food, however you can take your herbal supplements and benefit from them.
Exercise regularly – If for some reason you’re not able to be outside, pull up YouTube and teach for Walk a Mile videos. You can get a decent workout in 15 minutes. Do this at least three times a week and you’ve now got a system for exercising.
You can also pull up yoga or Pilates classes. The internet is filled with information. When it comes to exercise and your health, make your search worth while. Choose one or some that will help you get your body in motion.
Drink alcohol in moderation – We’re told a glass of wine a day helps with relaxation. It’s good for digestive purposes after or before a good meal. Okay got it. The problem for some people comes in when your glass becomes several glasses and ultimately ends up with you consuming the bottle.
Get Your Rest – You go to the doctor. The doctor finds your problem. He writes you a prescription and tells you to get some rest. One of the best ways to heal your body and build your immune system is to rest.
Avoid infection – Wash your hands often and wash down your counters, door knobs and light switches. Leave your shoes at the door. You’d be surprised at what comes in attached to your shoes.
More than anything Minimize Stress – This is always a work in progress. How do you tell a mother who’s worried about her child to minimize stress. Or your spouse not to worry about the bills. This list could become as long as a New York city block.
This is when a lot of you turn to a higher power. Some of you walk with the knowledge of knowing this power exist at all times. Other’s find out when you realize that “You’re” not The God/Goddess of the Universe.
Maybe we should all trust in a higher power first. It might just work.
That’s it for this week. As always …
