Summer in The Sun – How Does It Affect Your Beautiful Black Skin?

You’re constantly hearing that the sun is your enemy but , is it, really?  Yes, it will cause sun damage but that’s only if your skin is over exposed.  As people of color many of you go to the beach without sunscreens or you’re toting a bottle of baby lotion because that’s what you grew up with as sun protection.

While the sun could be one of the major contributing factors to the condition of your skin if it’s dry, scaly or blotchy, it’s not the only culprit that attacks your skin.

Some of you actually skip drinking water in order to purchase a pack of cigarettes, a bottle of wine or an overly sweetened pop.  You don’t drink water because you don’t like the taste.

You’ll even sweeten it with artificial sweeteners saying it taste better.

Summer heat, excessive sun exposure, cigarettes, wine and sweet pops will speed up the process of dehydrating your skin.  If you want beautiful black moisture rich skin, increasing your intake of water will help you reach your goal.

Caring for Your Skin From The Inside Out

One thing that’s always in fashion and considered attractive is clear, smooth and radiant skin. Approaching your skin from a holistic point of view, will have you caring for it from within as well as from without.

Summer season offers you great choices of food that will nourish your body and hydrate your cells internally. You know that water not only hydrates your skin from within, it also flushes your system, pushing waste and other by-products through your body.

Your choice of foods is just as important.  Choosing foods that are rich in omega 3 fatty acids, drinking green teas and eating organic fruits and vegetables whenever possible, will play an important role in how your skin looks.

Brown, Bronzed and Beautiful Skin

Now your topical applications come into play and work hand in hand with what you eat and drink.  Your skin care regimen can be simple: cleanse,  tone and moisturize.

Products that contain ingredients like Shea butter, cocoa butter, mango butter, green teas, hyaluronic acid, jojoba and olive oils will give you that smooth, subtle, feel good to the touch skin.

Sunscreens are a necessary step when caring for your skin, especially at the beach. As the sun beams off the ocean waters its reflection is very powerful.

Finally …

The summer also brings great weather for exercise.  Getting your blood going and working up a good sweat will help release anxiety and improve the appearance of your skin.
Exercising, eating the right foods and drinking lot of water is like having a health care regimen for your skin.

No approach to caring for your beautiful black skin is complete without getting proper rest.  Your skin must have time to rejuvenate itself in order to maintain that radiant glow.
