Healthy Dark Skin
I love attending workshops, you hear the most interesting things coming from people’s mouths. One of the most recent workshops gave ear to “diet and nutrition have nothing to do with having healthy dark skin.” Eyebrows raising, body tight and turning to the right with a,” What?”, expression on my face … yes, I was all up in someone else’s conversation with my ears, But, I held my tongue. Proud of Me!
But it’s statements like this one that have you thinking you can eat anything you want and not have to pay for it with challenges from your skin.
In the U.S. alone 80-90 % of the population is said to be affected by acne which is the most prevalent inflammatory skin disorder in existence, and, it’s a known fact that foods can trigger acne breakouts. Fried foods, potato chips, soda pops and artificially colored juices are all known to contribute to the ill health of your skin.
Eating For Healthy Dark Skin
It’s no secret that the better you eat, the more beautiful your skin. After all you feed your skin from the inside out. Fruits, green vegetables, quinoa, nuts, brown rice (for some) and good clean water provide the proper nutrients for your body, your skin and your hair.
Plants … your fruits and vegetables … are by and large, some of the strongest anti-inflammatory and antioxidant food sources available. By increasing your daily intake, you biologically increase your immune system and decrease breakouts, signs of aging as well as acne. Coconut water/milk and fresh water fish are also great foods to add to your meal plan.
Have you ever noticed that the more you eat an American fast food diet the more challenges you have with your skin? Fast foods are not limited to the golden arches. Everything is so fast paced until if you walk into a restaurant and it takes you 20-30 minutes to get your food, you’re ready to walk out. A good wholesome meal takes time to prepare.
While you’re waiting on your food it gives you an opportunity to catch up on the day’s activities and you get to know the person sitting across from you. Eating too fast gives you indigestion, this in turn causes your food to spoil on your stomach. Spoiled food in your stomach will ultimately result in breakouts because your skin is trying to tell you about toxins that now sit in your bowels. All because you rushed through you meal.
If the time allotted for your meal doesn’t give you time to sit and enjoy it, eat smaller portions and make it a light meal.
Not only does the food you eat affect your skin but eating too fast, not chewing your food properly can create some serious results in the long run.
Can You Have Healthy Dark Skin?
You can have healthy dark skin from the inside and the outside. Topical products enhance the beauty of eating the right foods. Add to that a great skin care regimen and your skin should have a healthy and radiant glow at all times.
