Tea is an herbal drink that has been touted as a health food in preventing a variety of conditions. It has been used for medicinal purposes throughout the ages. There are many different types of tea, with one of the most popular forms being green tea. Green tea is characterized by its green color and light flavor. Green tea has more catechins, the substance that fights off free radicals, than other kinds of teas.

There have been many encouraging connections between green tea and black skin care. Green tea has demonstrated that it can reduce sun damage. Green tea appears to cause sun damage protection by getting rid of free radicals and reducing inflammation. Thus, when used with products that block out the sun’s ultraviolet rays, it makes for a powerful tool for skin care. Dark skin benefits from this particularly because it has the tendency to become discolored. As for the other skin problems such as wrinkles and sagging, green tea can also help. Their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities slow down the development of some signs of aging.

Green tea and black skin care can be done by using a green tea formula product under the sunscreen when venturing into the sun. It is best to combine green tea with zinc oxide-based sunscreens because zinc oxide does not react with green tea in a way that some chemical sunscreens might do. It may also be possible to incorporate green tea into the skin maintenance regimen to possibly slow down skin aging.

However, simply buying any kind green tea face cream may not be the best way to reap the benefits. Like with other antioxidants, polyphenols from green tea can oxidize and lose their activity when exposed to air. Effects may vary from product to product so choose wisely.

There are some other natural alternatives such as using freshly brewed green tea and using them as a toner. Drinking lots of green tea may also benefit your skin. For those who prefer the green tea advantage without going through the troubles of applications, green tea extract capsules may be an option, as long as their intake is done under the supervision of a licensed physician. The polyphenols found in the green tea capsules may be potent enough to reach your skin via the bloodstream in sufficient quantities to make a difference in your skin.
