First of all I don’t often use the word ‘Old’, personally I like the word ‘Maturing’. The word ‘Old’ sets up a certain mindset and for a lot of us it sets up a space of finality, … endings.
But as we ‘Mature’, we understand that there is an evolving. We evolve in mind, spirit, body and beauty. You are maturing as all things on this planet do.
Nothing remains the same. But as you take care of your skin, your body and your mind, watch the beauty in all aspects of you, reflect your inner and outer beauty.
Meet Martha Graf, the image in this article. She is the mother of Alicia Graf Mack former dancer with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
Is this article about her? No. It is about the beauty of ‘Maturing’ (evolving) in your beautiful black skin and she is a wonderful example of how it’s done.
Oh … did I rant again?
Information On Anti-Aging, Does It Apply to Black Skin?
We read that Baby Boomers in particular are under pressure to look good all the time. If you read any magazine, watch television or attend workshops on beauty, everyone is under pressure to look good all the time, not just Baby Boomers.
But when you’re maturing, you take on an attitude of rushing to keep your skin in a youthful state. Can it be done?
You can keep your skin hydrated, moisturized, clean and exfoliated. This will keep your skin free from dirt, dead skin cells and your skin will reflect a certain light or cleanliness which appears to be a youthful state.
Hyaluronic Acid and How It Benefits Black Skin
In young skin, so to speak, Hyaluronic acid is found in the periphery of collagen and elastin fibers. It’s thought to help hold together collagen and elastin in its proper configuration.
In mature skin studies have shown that the connections with Hyaluronic acid is absent.
In topical products, creams, lotions, serums … Hyaluronic acid is important for tissue repair and maintaining your skins hydration. Hyaluronic acid binds up to 500 times its weight.
It’s used in cosmetic formulations for its strong water-binding capabilities.
It brings moisture up to the top layer of your skin and keeps it hydrated.
Hyaluronic acid is responsible for maintaining the water balance in your skin and providing hydration, lubrication and the function of your cells.
It provides a reservoir of water within your skin.
As you mature, your skin is challenged with dehydration, sagging skin and yes wrinkles but with the presence of hyaluronic acid a remarkable improvement is demonstrated.
Nutrition and Your Skin
Nutrition plays an important role in the caring of your skin. The amount of water that you drink, the amount of green foods that you eat and the herbs and supplements that you take to enhance and boost your foods, will all work in harmony for your beautiful black skin.
