COVID weight gain has crept up on most of us. I saw a colleague while getting gas the other day. She pulled up and and spoke. Her skin was glowing, she’d taken her weave out and was wearing her natural hair. She looked 10 years younger.
I told her she looked great and looked as though she had lost weight. She said “not at all, I’m sitting on it” She got out of her car and she was right. Her weight had all gathered on her hips.
Some call it the Quarantine 15. That’s the average amount of weight that has been gained during the pandemic lock down. You’ve all eaten your way through the pandemic in some form or fashion. For most of you, eating wasn’t the problem. You ate better than you’ve eaten in years.
It was lack of exercise.
Believe it or not, those extra steps you were taking when you worked out of your home was helping your move your butts and keep you weight gain at a minimum. Moving around your office, in and out of buildings keep you moving. Little did you know, you were getting your daily dose of exercise.
Now is as good a time as any to get back on track. If you never had a workout regimen, you can start one now. The weather is warm and you can get your vitamin D in the process.
No longer will you have to live with the quarantine 15. If you’ve read any of my articles on working out, you know that I believe in starting out slow.
Walking will get your body in motion. It will also clear your mind, get your blood circulating and is some of the best cardio you can do without injury. You can step outside your front door and walk 15 minutes in one direction and 15 minutes back and you’ve just done 30 minutes.
Swimming is a powerful way to exercise. It’s a full body workout in water. Using water as a resistance, you can move your body with ease and have low impact too your joints and muscles.
Yoga is the greatest exercise for stretching and building flexibility. When first starting out, you might feel as if you’ll never touch your toes. Consistency will prove you wrong. You will touch your toes and the floor, in no time.
No only that, the breathing techniques used in Yoga, will clear your lungs and your mind. This helps bring calm in your space and your life.
Tai Chi is an exercise of motion. You are constantly moving your body in slow and graceful ways. Don’t be fooled! When done properly, Tai Chi will give you a great full body workout.
A Night With Your Lover is by far the best workout you can give yourself. Yes I went there. Not only do you work your muscles and joints, you get to sweat and express pleasure all while moving in rhythmic motion with your lover. You take it from here.
Giving any of these exercises a chance and you will loose the weight you gained during the pandemic. Pick at least two and get started with your weight loss regimen. Let me know in the comments, how you’re coming along.
That’s it for this week. As always …
