Have You Found Time To Workout for an Awesome Body

Is it time to workout for an awesome body? If you’re like a lot of women, you’ve eaten your way through the pandemic. What does that mean? You’ve put on a few pounds. Nine out of ten times, that weight has attached itself to your waistline, hips and thighs. Some of you have even developed table-top-butts. Go figure!

Springtime is arriving for most of you and it feels good to have the sun’s warmth on your skin. You’ll feel even better, when you leave a few of the pounds you picked up over the past year, behind. By the way, working out could help you get and keep that radiant glow to your skin you’ve been looking for.

What do you say to a little workout regimen 5- 6 days a week? Okay, how about every other day? Sounds like a plan!

Time to Workout for An Awesome Body. Where do you begin?

Walking is a great place to start. If you’ve done nothing all winter, you might want to go outside and walk for 30 minutes. 15 minutes in one direction and 15 minutes back. Nothing strenuous. Just good old fashion movement by walking. You’ll be surprised at how good yo can feel walking for a short period of time.

My neighbor had a stroke a few years back. Lost his ability to speak and nursed himself back to health physically, by sitting in the sun, gaining his strength and beginning to walk. I’ve watched him work his way back over the years and walking was and still is part of his daily activity.

He’s got his swag back. He’s one of those gents who bops when he walks. Where’s your swag or sway of the hips? Walking will help you find it.

Exercise Bikes, Stair masters, Outdoor Cycling and Ellipticals

Stair masters, ellipticals, and exercise bikes are great pieces of machinery to have in your space. You’re working a lot of body parts and can work up a sweat as well. You can start with one minute. Can’t do a minute, don’t sweat it or beat yourself up. We all have to begin some where and build up. Take your 60 seconds on the elliptical, bike or stare master and own it. You’ll eventually find yourself clocking 30 minutes.

Outdoor cycling can add even greater benefits to your awesome body workout.  Granted there are less cars on the street at the moment, but bike trails can provide a safe place to ride all year long.

Strength Training

Strength training speaks a lot to toning and strengthening your body overall. If you’re maturing, okay, those over 50, it becomes essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Strength training has been said to help reduce symptoms that are often related to chronic diseases such as arthritis, obesity, diabetes, even heart disease.

Aging causes the loss of muscle strength each year. Strength training can help ward off some of that loss and regenerate your muscles.

Don’t be so quick to pick up 10 pound hand weights or any other heavy weights. Can you lift your own body? Push ups, planks, sit-ups , squats, even leg lifts are not always easy if you haven’t been moving your body on a daily basis.

My Tai Chi instructor often has me standing on one leg, alternating left to right for 10 to 15 seconds. He suggest you do this when standing in line at grocery stores or the post office. He says this is good for balance.

Don’t wait until you’re 50 or older to begin strength training. Give yourself the advantage of your youthful years and start now. And ladies, you don’t have to fear looking like a man on swollen. The right trainer will create a workout regimen to meet your personal goals and needs.

Finding Time to Workout

More of you have found time to workout during the pandemic than ever before. You credit the pandemic with actually helping you put a workout regimen in place. Your excuse was that you were always too busy.

For a lot of you, your new found workout regimen has saved your sanity and your life. Walking has gotten you out of the house into the fresh air. Although the gyms are closed or you choose not to go back just yet even if open, you are jumping rope, lifting weights or doing cardio to YouTube videos in your home. Some fitness instructors are taking their routines outside. They’re holding Zumba classes in the park. Awesome.

It’s time to switch out your boots for a pair of sneakers and get your workout going for an awesome body.

That’s it for this week. As always …
