We need to exercise now! How many of you ate your way through Thanksgiving Day? As in ate all day long. It was one continuous meal of a marathon. Okay … not all day. You just had mini meals all day long and you told yourself they were equivalent to one meal.
Time to pull out the sneakers!
Typically this is a message for January. However, since COVID arrived earlier this year, a lot of us have been eating away the stress. Yes that includes me and it hasn’t always been healthy eating.
Let’s face it, even if you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, you cook the meal for family. And, even though the people you served might have been four, you cooked as if it were ten. I know I did.
Look, it’s the only time the sweet potato pies and sour cream pound cake make its way in the house.
Did I mention eating my way through COVID? Yes I chipped my way through this year. I’ve eaten more corn chips and jalapeño chips this year than in my lifetime. Hence the extra pounds. Exercise to the rescue!
So after my first plate on Thanksgiving day, my daughter and I worked in the yard adding mulch to the flower beds. After my second plate, we went for a longer walk than usual.
Join us for our before New Year weight lost challenge. All we’re going to do is walk and get on the elliptical. Don’t have an elliptical? Walking will do.
Here’s the challenge. Walk for 30 minutes every day. If you’re beyond the 30 minute a day mark, YAY! Take your walk up to 45 minutes or an hour. Some of you are even ready for strength training.
When the weather isn’t conducive to a walk outside, there are video’s on YouTube that you can use to Walk a Mile or more. Leslie Sansone is a good one to start with. Do a search on YouTube for Walking to loose weight and you’ll see them come up.
Word of advice … if the moves are too fast on a given video, you can always slow your pace or choose another video. The key is to get your body in motion in a way that won’t frustrate you and cause you to quit.
No workout program is worth its weight in gold if you don’t eat right. Keep it simple. Steamed veggies with quinoa is a good base. You can have a meal with a variety of veggies. You can take those same veggies and quinoa and make a wrap adding green leaf or romaine lettuce and a drizzle of your favorite salad dressing.
Warm water and lemon or lime juice first thing in the morning, will ease any clutter that’s sitting in your colon. Some of you do Apple Cider Vinegar, if it works, continue using it.
That’s the thing about food. You have to find what works for your body and flow with it. The same thing applies to life. Find your Center and flow with it.
Don’t forget to drink your water. Half you body’s weight is the current rule. This also helps prevent dehydration.
Go on … get started. You’ll be glad you did. You’ll not only look better, you’ll feel better too. At the end of the day, this is a great way to enhance the beauty of your skin.
That’s it for this week. As always,
