Do you feel that dark skin is a beautiful gift from nature?  Some African American women do and some don’t.  Why do we curse ourselves by believing that our beautiful dark skin is so ugly.

Have you been the recipient of brain washing when it comes to your beautiful black skin?  Isn’t it interesting how people are taught that dark things can be beautiful but when it comes to your skin.  It doesn’t seem to get the same respect.

Think about it.  Chocolate is one of the most saught after delicacies.  You like chocolate cake, chocolate candy, hot chocolate, chocolate icing … you get the idea.  Well what color is chocolate?  It looks like you!  Yes I know that it comes in an assortment of colors, but so do you.  What chocolate is suppose to have the greatest antioxidants in it?  Dark Chocolate!  You’re told, if you’re going to eat chocolate, eat Dark Chocolate.

If you stop for just one minute and process this:  If all things dark are good for you, then why isn’t having beautiful dark skin a good thing?

Here’s the beauty of having dark skin!

  • Your beautiful black skin is a product of melanin.  It gives you a natural SPF of 15.
  • You can wear any color and its variations on your skin.
  • You don’t need a lot of make up, some of you don’t need any.

One of the ways you can help stop perpetuating the lie is to tell every little dark skinned girl that you see just how beautiful she is.  And then you tell the young dark men, just how beautiful the young dark girls are.

Dark skin is a beautiful gift from nature.  The next time someone tells you that your beautiful black skin is a curse, know that they are lying and don’t appreciate the essence of your beauty.
