Summer is officially here, which means for a lot of you, it’s time to travel and see familiar and not so familiar places.

This brings up the question of how will you care for your beautiful black skin as you move through the different climates.

When temperatures reach 99 degrees as it has for a lot of you this past week, your skin will need special attention.

With summer and its natural heat in full sewing, it’s important for you to maintain a black skin care regimen that will protect and nourish your skin as you move about the planet.

Pre-Vacation Black Skin Care Regimen

Before you set off on your journey, give yourself a hydrating facial treatment. Cleanse, tone and moisturize. A good cleanser that’s cream based, will remove excess debris from your surface layer as well as deeply penetrate to your inner layer of skin.

In addition to cleansing, toning and moisturizing, exfoliating your skin is crucial. Exfoliation helps with circulation as well as stimulates your skin’s cell turnover. Cell turnover represents the production of new skin cells. If the old cells aren’t removed with exfoliation, you’ll see dull, gray ashy skin.

A good hydrating mask is another step that should be added to your regimen. I suggest honey for this phase. Honey not only hydrates your skin, it softens and smooths your skin at the same time.

Black Skin Care Tips On The Go

Facial Care: Whether you’re flying or driving to your destination, it would be a good idea to travel make up free. On air planes, the air is extremely dry, The objective is to keep your skin as hydrated as possible.

There are some great essential oil blends sot consider as well. They can be very useful when you’re traveling by plane and breathing in everyone else’s germs for 20 hours. Try mixing a few drops of Sandalwood, Eucalyptus, Juniper, Neroli, Lavender and Chamomile together and apply it to the back of your neck or temples.

Hands: Not only does your face dry out when you’re traveling, so do your hands. A good blend of Shea, cocoa and mango butter will help keep your hands soft and smooth during your travels.

Lips: Your lips are often overlooked when skin care is mentioned. However a nice balm made with coconut oil and essential oils with provide softness to them.

The key to great skin while you travel, is to keep your skin care regimen in place. Don’t stop caring for your skin!! Eat lots of green foods and don’t forget to drink lots of pure, clean water. The fact that I have to specify ‘pure’, ‘clean’ water is scary.

That’s if for this week. Travel safely!
