Yes, it’s time to get rid of all the sludge you’ve been carryin around. Whether it’s the family member, friend, co-worker or that extra 5 pounds you’ve been working on for 6 months, it’s time to let them go.

They’ll be alright and so will You. When we think of the word detox, it brings up the connotation of removing something that’s unwanted and possibly bringing us harm in an unhealthy way.

Let’s take a look at three aspects of self that will change your entire being when detoxed.

Your Body

Your Body has a way of slowing down when it wants you to remove sludge that’s sitting in your colon. To do this naturally, eat brightly colored fruits and vegetables that are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.

Antioxidants have a way of activating your liver enzymes and knocking out harmful substances by making them water soluble. This allows your body to get rid of them more easily. Fiber found in raw fruits and vegetables acts like a scrub brush in your colon helping to remove toxins rather than absorb them.

This will of course mean you have to drink more water. If you want to enhance the flavor of your water, add lemon, lime or cucumber slices. You will find that you have to pee and poop more as you naturally cleanse your system.

Eat organic whenever you can. Try to purchase from farmers that are conscious about the way they grow their foods. Stay away from processed foods. Choose nuts over chips and only eat a small amount of them.

Now that you’ve got your food part right, it’s time to soak in the tub. Your body will benefit from a long soaking bath to slow things down. A few drops of essential oils in dead sea or Himalayan salts will also help in detoxing your body. The oils and salts will aid in releasing toxins trapped in your skin.

Your Mind

You feed your mind just as you feed your body. Your Mind will benefit from you taking a break from the news or the TV in general. When you think about it, 99 percent of what you watch can be negative.

Your body will take on the energy of the negative programming and can actually cause stress within your system. Have you ever noticed how mad you stay at certain characters on your favorite programs?

Should you decide to read a book or listen to a video that will enhance your outlook on life, you just might feel better and become more relaxed.

When your mind is calm, the rest of your body is calm.

Your Spirit

Your Spirit welcomes tranquility. Long walks in nature are calming and relaxing. So is swimming, Tai Chi and Qi gong. These can all be looked at as moving meditations. Think about the pace of all these exercises, they can be slow and methodical, forcing you to slow your roll.

Taking a different approach to detoxing by cleansing your body, mind and spirit at one time will enhance your physical being as well as your mental space.

That’s it for this week. As always …
