Natural exfoliation removes the older, dead skin cells that would otherwise be left clinging to your outer layer of skin. It’s an important part of body treatments and facials.

If it is correctly done, exfoliation will leave your beautiful black skin feeling and looking fresher and smoother. It also makes your skin more receptive to penetration by facial serums.

Your skin generates new skin cells within the lower layer, and sends them outward to your surface skin. When the older cells reach the epidermis, they die and are filled with keratin. These cells protect your skin, but they slough off constantly, making way for younger skin cells.

If you wish to use a natural exfoliant, jojoba is an excellent way to clean black skin. The oil comes from a plant that is common in areas with dry, hot desert climates, such as the southwestern United States. They are hardy shrubs, and living 200 years is not uncommon for a jojoba plant.

Jojoba oil is used in scrubs, creams and lotions, and it also works well when used to blend cosmetics, since it doesn’t spoil or oxidize, even under stress from high temperatures.

Jojoba oil can be bought as its own oil, too, so you can use it when creating custom products for your skin. When blended with carrot oil and evening primrose oil, it works well on facial wrinkles like crow’s feet.

Jojoba oil is also an excellent ingredient to use in the process of natural exfoliation. It’s gentle but effective, especially for black skin, and it works extremely well on facial skin. Exfoliants that contain jojoba cleanse your skin, prevent dryness and slough off dead skin cells.

Jojoba helps with scars and wrinkles, and can be helpful in the treatment of eczema, psoriasis and acne. It gives hydration to your black skin, making it smooth and soft, and improving the way it looks and feels.

Jojoba is effective as a moisturizer, since it penetrates your skin and is absorbed easily. As you age, your skin is exposed to more environmental pollutants, and this results in a reduction of the production of sebum, which can cause skin to lose moisture.

Jojoba oil acts similarly to our skin’s sebum, and this balances your black skin. Jojoba is an antibacterial agent, too, killing germs and bacteria.

Jojoba oil can be a bit expensive to purchase, because it is drawn into your skin quickly and needs to be re-applied. It is safe for nearly any skin use.

Since it’s non-toxic, it won’t generally cause allergic reactions or irritation of your skin.  It’s the perfect beauty product to keep your African-American skin looking younger every day.
