Baby it’s cold outside!  At least where I am.  It’s that time of the year when your shoulders and your ears become one unit, especially when you aren’t dressed for it.  And what does this coldness do to your beautiful black skin?

If you’re not wrapped up and your face isn’t covered, you will experience cracked skin, dry skin and let’s not forget roughness of your skin.  The elements – razor like wind and teeth chattering cold – play havoc on your skin.

When you turn the corner and the wind slaps you in your face, Oh My God!  So what do you do?  Your first thought is probably to pull out the heavy duty moisturizer.  Yes, that’s a great place to start but keeping your face exfoliated is also important.

For some reason, the over abundance of fluoride and who knows what else is added to the water system, has a tendency to dry your skin out even more.  So by exfoliating the dead skin cells off, your skin will maintain its luxurious glow as we make our way through the winter months.

If you know that your skin has a tendency to get exceptionally dry in colder climates, don’t be cute and cold.  Cover your head with a hat, it will block wind and debris and keep the heat in your body and cover your lower face with a scarf.  The scarf wrapped around your neck, mouth and ears will protect your skin from frigid cold.  Don’t forget your gloves and boots.  When you cover all of your extremities you stand a better chance of protection for your skin.  Keeping your body temperature at a given level will also help your skin maintain it’s suppleness.  When your body temperature drops, your skin will take on a dull, gray, ashy look.

If you maintain your skin care regimen of cleansing, toning, moisturizing and exfoliation, you’ll be ahead of the game.  So, when Spring time rolls in your skin will look like that of a Beautiful Black Goddess.
