Have you ever had a facial that had been customized just for your beautiful black skin using essential oils? Guess what! In the hands of a highly trained professional and someone who really cares about taking their time with your skin, it’s possible.
When you consider this type of environment, it is usually but not always, in a spa. The skin care therapist will typically have what’s known as an Aromatherapy Bar. Not one where you can smell watermelon, strawberry or apple scents but a space where you would expect to receive a facial treatment using essential oils.
An Aromatherapy Bar and How It Will Influence Your Black Skin Care Regimen.
An Aromatherapy bar would be focused on therapy, wellness and healing using authentic essential oils. By definition, authentic essential oils are volatile (easily evaporated) fatty acids extracted from plants by steam, distillation or pressed from the peels of fruits.
When using authentic essential oils they are not diluted or altered once they are extracted. As part of your black skin care regimen your skin care therapist would dilute them using jojoba, coconut, olive, apricot or grape seed oils for your natural skin care treatment.
When you choose to experience a customized aromatherapy facial, you would not be choosing the oils. The skin care therapist would be making the selection based on a consultation with you. The oils would be chosen for skin conditions, emotional issues and stress.
You all know that emotional issues and stress can wreak havoc on your skin. The essential oils used in caring for your beautiful black skin will be added to a base formula such as a face cream, massage oil or mask.
The most useful and versatile carrier oils are coconut oil, jojoba oil and olive oil. These oils are often in the base oils used when doing a facial massage.
Should The Person Using Essential Oils Have Special Training?
You betcha! And if you choose to have such a treatment, you might want to read up on essential oils for yourself, at least the guidelines for use. Not to say that the person administering the service isn’t knowledgeable but it would be to your advantage to inquire as to where they studied, trained and how long they’ve been working with oils.
I know a lot of you are probably thinking that your grandmother didn’t study at any school and she used to blend and make all kind of infusions and concoctions. You’re right! But your grandmother did things with love and concern for you and the people who trusted her. Her “reputation” was her credentials.
If someone tells you that they are going to use strawberry-scented oil on your face, it’s not real. It is a synthetic blend and known as a fragrance oil. Now if this therapist blends the real strawberry and applies it to your face that’s a different approach.
Strawberries have been used as mask in order to exfoliate the skin and sometimes they react like natural peels. But they must be tested on a small area before you allow full coverage, you could have an allergic reaction.
All in all, an aromatherapy facial is a wonderful experience. Essential oils are an excellent natural alternative to add to your black skin care regimen.
The concept of a Customized Aromatherapy Facial is a treat that you’ll really enjoy.
