I began my walk this morning at 7:00am with my walking partner. She shared a story with me about her recent vacation to the Islands with some girlfriends. My walking partner and two of the other ladies took the precaution of putting their sunscreen on before they went to the beach BUT one of the other ladies thought herself immune because she is extremely melanated (in other words, she’s a beautiful dark chocolate ) .
This went on for 4 days and upon their return, guess who had to go to the dermatologist … You got it, Ms. my black don’t crack. Her skin began to itch and had dried out and burned from sitting in the sun too long and with no sunscreen.
As beautiful as your black skin is, don’t suspend your common sense. Whether you’re at the beach or not, put your sunscreen on, all year long.
Did you know that the snow, the sand and the ocean reflect the sun’s rays onto everything in its’ path?
See you in the sunscreen aisle.
