Traveling always adds a bit of stress to you and your skin. But because its the Holiday season and you’ll be spending time with family and friends, your skin is bound to experience a higher level of stress. Caring for your beautiful black skin naturally will prove to be that much more important.

Just as you will have a plan of action to get you to and from your destination, your skin will need a plan of action also. Whether it’s planes, trains or automobiles, your skin will need some tender loving care.  A small travel bag with essential skin care items will help you keep your skin radiant, soft and smooth.

Leaving On a Jet Plane –  If you’re flying to your destination, a few days before you’re to leave, begin to cleanse your system and eat easy to digest foods that will be light on your stomach.

If an Island or different time zone is part of your trip, you might want to adjust your clocks a few days before your trip so that your bedtime and wake up time will reflect the place you’ll be traveling too.

Drink two or three cups of water every one to two hours while flying.  Avoid caffeine and soda at all cost, they will cause dehydration.  Keep your blood flowing by getting up and stretching.  If you keep a pillow on your lap, it will help rest your forearms and this position will help in keeping your neck and shoulders relaxed.

Jet lag can play a roll in how your body and your skin looks and feels. Have a light toner with you so that you can mist your face to keep it hydrated.

A new time zone can throw your body’s rhythm out of whack.  When flying it’s extremely important to get up walk the isles so that your blood circulates.  Movement and deep breathing are not only good for your circulatory system but it will keep your lymphatic fluids moving as well.

Once you arrive at your destination, take a bath to relax your muscles.

Traveling by Car – Not only can you stretch when you want to but you can take your time and arrive safely at your destination.  The key to car travel is pacing yourself and not trying to do a 9 hour trip in 6 hours.

The comfort level of the seat is crucial.  You might need a pillow behind your back or neck.  Only put what is absolutely necessary inside the car, make sure everything else is in the trunk.

Traveling in a mini van, don’t bring the entire kitchen with you, half will do. When it’s time to get gas, stretch your legs, empty your bladder and mist your face.

Traveling by Train – This is a great way to see the countryside while someone else does the driving.  But you also get a chance to rest and relax.  Just as when traveling by plane, you can move about the compartments  and not feel boxed in, you’re just closer to the ground.

Remember …

Whether it’s planes, trains or automobiles once you reach your destination, there’s nothing like a hot bath to really relax you.  Add lavender essential oil to your bath and your skin will thank you for it.
