We’re transitioning into Autumn and the  temperatures of the excessive heat wave have been  challenging to your beautiful black skin and hair. Its been hotter than a “Motha”. The summer temperatures are beginning to come down to levels that allow you to breathe, in most parts of the United States anyway.

So what does this mean? If you’re into any type of fashion magazine, you’re seeing the onslaught of “Trends” that are being shown for Autumn. In the world of apparel, you’ll see vibrant colors, artistic prints and dramatic accessories that are sure to spark conversation.  Textures in belts, scarves, shoes and handbags will give you a rustic mix of elements and add spice to your wardrobe.

That same fashion forward movement in trends applies to your skin and hair.  Eye shadows in purple, gold and bronze and liners in charcoal, silver and green, are all trending into slant eye and bold color combinations.

So,  in order for you to create the purr-fect cat eye, you’ll need a steady hand and the bold colors of the Autumn trends.  But you’ll also want to be careful when removing  any and all make up in general but especially eye make up.  The eyes are not only the windows to your soul, the area around your eyes is the most delicate area of skin on your body.

Transitioning your hair into Autumn for some of you will mean changing the color and shape of your hair.  Changing your hair’s color, also means changing the texture  and condition of your hair.  Bright red heads like Rihanna or a sassy blonde beauty like Mary J Blige have managed to  wear their colors and wear them well. But, such colors can often bring challenges for your hair and it’s health.  If you decide to  add color to your crowning glory, be sure to moisturize, moisturize and moisturize your hair, some more!!

Black Hair Care Tips :

As you move forward into the season of Autumn here are a few tips for you to consider for your beautiful black skin and hair:

  • Avoid products that contain alcohol.  They can strip your hair of its natural oils and cause it to look dry and dull.
  • Use cool water to rinse your hair, this will prevent frizz.
  • If you use a blow dryer or diffuser on high heat, turn it down to a cooler setting and finish.
  • If you decide to add color to your beautiful black hair, natural or straight, try it out in a wig first.  You’ll get an idea of whether or not you’ll like the look and the color.

Black Skin Care Tips:

  • You’ll want to use a bit more of your summer moisturizer as the weather begins to cool down.  And as you move into winter cold your moisturizer will change altogether into heavier creams to fight off the frigid cold and cracked skin that it will cause.
  • Keeping a skin care regimen it vital as you move into Autumn. Your regimen will keep your skin soft, smooth and supple.
  • Cleansing with warm water is important.  If your water is too hot, it will strip your skin of its natural oils.

Whether it’s your beautiful black skin or hair, moving into Autumn temperatures is going to bring about a change.  Also remember that not every Trend is a good Trend for you, so choose the colors, fabrics, skin and hair care products that will assist you in putting your best Self forward.
