If you want a great looking head of hair, that’s healthy, luxurious, has a great sheen and it’s all natural, one of  the main things you have to keep in mind is to have a healthy lifestyle. To be able to do this you,  learning how to manage stress is crucial.

You might  also want to get rid of your vices such as drinking and smoking. It is also important for you to make exercise a part of your daily regimen. And one of the most important things is to eat healthy food. As much as possible, stay away from junk food and eat lots of vegetables. Doing all these things will make your hair healthier.

Are you still with me?  I know that this is a lot to consider in order to have healthy hair but aren’t you worth it?  As African American’s we have every texture of hair under the sun and should look for hair care products that are specifically formulated for Black Hair.

For Black Men, natural hair care entails making a conscious effort to avoid hair products that do not have alcohol since this is the primary reason why your hair dries out. Never put gel or wax on your scalp because this will cause your pores to clog on your head.

If you have ever wondered why people rinse under the shower before getting into the pool, the reason behind this is due to the fact that when you wet your hair with tap water, your hair absorbs this instead of the chlorine from the pool. Some people don’t like wearing swimming caps when they swim. If you’re one of these people, make sure you wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner so that it doesn’t dry out.

On the other hand, for Black Women, natural hair care requires the utmost care while you are drying your hair. When you are using a blow dryer, do not use the hot settings because this can damage your hair. Always rotate the blow dryer around different parts of your hair to avoid burns. It is better to towel dry your hair or make the air dry your hair out naturally rather than using a blow dryer. If you notice knots in your hair, do not untangle them using a comb or a brush. Simply use your fingers to untangle them.

When it comes to taking care of your hair, you just have to treat it the way you are supposed to treat your body. Be gentle with it and make sure it gets the right nutrients. So if you are someone who likes to dye your hair constantly, think twice before you do it if you want to have healthy looking hair when you are older. The best thing to do is to have regular haircuts and conditioning in salons or barber shops so you can pamper yourself at the same time.
