To the surprise of some people, black folk do not have to wash their hair every day.
When we take a look at Black Hair Care, we find that there are no set rules for caring for our hair. It’s an individual thing.
With so many ‘weaves and things’ on the market for us to use, it is important that we take a look at the tools and ingredients used to apply them to our scalp. Glue in, sew in …. Ok… So … in order for me to have long hair, I have to sew someone else’s hair into my scalp. Or better yet, that takes too long, so you can just glue someone else’s hair into my scalp.
Never mind, I’ll just wear a helmet, sorry, a wig. We go through all of these changes because we don’t like our naturally kinky curly hair.
Don’t get me wrong, I was the queen of the perm, until my hair started thinning. This was the beginning of my natural hair evolution . It took some getting use to, for me.
I now carry long locks that touch my butt and my hair is no longer thinning. Natural was my individual choice. But when we think about Black Hair Care, it becomes more than just how often we wash our hair, it’s also what we tell ourselves about our hair.
So, the next time you look into the mirror, tell yourself how beautiful you are, you and your beautiful kinky, curly and natural black hair.
