She’s being referred to as the Everyday Icon.  They’re talking about her Power of Style.  I’m talking about Michelle Obama, she’s like no other First Lady in American History.

She got off Air Force One in hiking shorts on her way to the Grand Canyon.  Some feel that this was scandalous because after all she is the First Lady.  Can someone tell me what you wear to the Grand Canyon if you’re going hiking?  It’s interesting that Hilary Clinton didn’t get the same flack when she vacationed on Martha’s Vineyard with then President and husband Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea, wearing shorts.

Then there is the up in Arms moment.  Imagine how much discipline it takes to get arms like that,  sculptured and toned. I must admit not every outfit that she wears fits her silhouette like it should.  She’s not always dressed to show off her best assets.  When you wear a belt, it should not be under your breast when worn with a skirt and sweater set.  And not every print should be presented to her as a choice.  The outfit worn during the visit to Paris  was not the most flattering, especially the floral coat.  For some people,  flowers should be worn in small doses.  The outfit worn with the coat and dress and flowers … made her appear too matronly.  Of course this is just my humble opinion.

Michelle Obama has grown in both her style and beauty.  If you take a look at the journey from the beginning of the campaign of now President Obama to the White House, you’ll see a maturity and refinement in her apparel, her hair and her make-up.  Yes they’re getting the  make up right and her skin looks flawless.  There are times when you can see the stress but all in all Michelle Obama carries herself like the Queen that she is.

Women of her height and statue always exude a presence when ever they enter into a room, I know because my mother was 6’1″ tall.  When ever she entered a room she was definitely the center of attention.  Michelle Obama has become a champion for Women of Color, especially African American women.  In her they see a real black woman, someone who looks like them.  Her style of dress, the way she wears her hair and her rich bronze complexion, give African American women confidence and a sense of pride.

Every outfit, every hair style nor every color that she wears will ever be liked by everyone.  But there’s one thing that you can say about her and that is:  She’s one of a kind!
