Beauty and the bath.  I believe in relaxing as much as you can.  So, what better way to do it, than creating a spa oasis for yourself.

Ideally, your bathroom should be both a refuge from tension, anxiety, stress and turmoil of the outside world. It should be a place of warmth and welcome for you to be able to go into and relax.

Your bathroom should also be a supportive environment in which you can accomplish a certain meditative state. An aromatherapy bath or a relaxing shower, in privacy and in peace.

Creating a Relaxing Environment Within Your Bathroom

Beauty and the bath make a winning combination for you and your peace of mind. With very little effort you can create a very relaxing environment in your bathroom. The first thing to consider is to make your bathroom visually relaxing, like clearing it from all the clutter.

Make sure your towels are rolled up or put away neatly. Organize your products and have them in some type of order.

Keeping your bathroom fresh and clean smelling is crucial. Damp towels that are hanging over the rack or on doorknobs should be tossed in the machine and laundered right away.

One thing to know and understand is that your bathroom can become your personal space for winding down.  Whether it’s the middle or at the end of the day, it can be considered your sacred space.

So if you’ve got any objects of art, scented candles, perfume bottles or crystal bottles, these are all things that will add to the beauty of your space.

Setting Up Your Bathroom to Care For Your Beautiful Black Skin

Now why don’t we talk about this whole setup of your bathroom when it comes to caring for African American skin?

First of all, this environment creates an oasis for you, your beauty and your bath.  It allows you to be able to walk into this space and relax. There’s nothing like finding peace and tranquility for you to be able to have your own inner tranquil space for calming down from the day.

Not only is your bathroom a place to relax, but it’s also a place for meditation and letting go of disturbing thoughts. You can increase your degree of pleasure by adding essential oils that will provide you with aromas that can develop your mind and spirit.

Beauty and The Bath

When you’re setting your bathroom up, a few things that you might want to consider when preparing your space.

  • You ‘ll want to wait a couple of hours after eating to take your bath. This allows you time to digest food and facilitate your mind and body in achieving this whole effect.

  • You’ll want to have a nice towel that you can roll up if you don’t have a pillow to put behind your head in your tub.

  • You can then use that same towel to wrap yourself in or pat yourself dry. I don’t believe in rubbing yourself dry when you come out of the tub or the shower. I think it should be done with care, softness and gentleness . Why? Because this is your body and you want to be able to treat it with tender loving care.

  • You’ll also want to place a no slip rug by your tub for you to stand on as you’re exiting. Either that or the towel. Fold it up, put it on the floor and use it to step out onto as you come out of the tub.

If you drink a glass of spring water at room temperature before you enter your bath, and immediately after exiting your bath, it helps with the hydrating of your body.  And if you’ve used particular oils that are known for detoxifying your body, you will begin to have great eliminations when you come out of the tub.

Enhancing The Beauty of Your Skin With Essential Oils

Essential oils are natures wonder for enhancing and helping with skin care, relaxation and detoxing your body.  Here are a few for you to consider for your beauty and bath time.

Lavender is a good essential oil to consider. I’ve not met a person yet, who doesn’t like lavender. It’s one of the staples that I keep in my goodie bag of oils.

Lavender is an oil that’s used to treat certain problems such as nervousness, insomnia, stress, depression, fear and irritability.

It’s known to stimulate and regenerate the nervous system and brings a feeling of calmness over the person that’s using it. If you want to add a few drops into your tub, do so after you run your water and you’ve immersed yourself in the tub. Or you can take a cup of sea salt, half cup of baking soda and add lavender to that as well. Take the sea salt and baking soda, blend it up in a sandwich bag and disperse a handful into your water.

Lavender is also said to stimulate your white blood cell formation and it can be seen as strengthening your body’s immune system.

Clary Sage would be another oil to consider for your bath, it’s related to the mint family. It’s known to produce creativity when you’re feeling a mental block. Clary sage is also known to be a great aphrodisiac for impotence and frigidity.

Myrrh is another oil that’s good to have in your space. Myrrh combined with sandalwood or frankincense prior to meditation, can expand your awareness to go deeper within.

Wait, there’s more …

Orange Blossom or Neroli are known for their smells, which are delicate, fresh, and warm giving you a certain uplifting. Neroli is going to deal with the floral side because you’re dealing with the flower from the orange tree. Neroli is also known to calm the mind in worry over sexual performance.

Sandalwood is exotic oil. It’s used as an antiseptic, relieves cramps, it’s a good aphrodisiac and is also good to quite irritated emotions. It’s been used and found to relieve of stress, depression and insomnia and aggression.

Ylang ylang is also another good oils as well for depression and can take you off into far away places through your imagination. If it’s too sweet for you, you can tone its aroma down, by using orange oil or lemon oil to blend with it.

When you’re able to provide yourself with a place and space that you can go into, close the door and know that this is your spot for the next 20 to 30 minutes, that’s when you’ve created a place of joy and tranquility.
That’s it for this week. As always …
