avocoda face creamNatural, organic, botanical ingredients are what you’d choose when looking for a way to achieve the healthiest complexion on your beautiful black skin.

Taking a natural approach with your skin care regimen can provide you with amazing results.

Applying products to your beautiful black skin is like taking food into your mouth. Everything you put on it is being absorbed and penetrating deep into your skins layers and moving into your blood stream. Knowing this, you’ll want skin care products that are free from toxins that can harm your skin.

There’s a growing number among you that like making your own natural skin care products. This should come as no surprise since we, as black women, have always made lotions and potions for our skin.

On that note, I’ll share a few natural recipes with you:

Anti-Acne Youthful Avocado Mask

juice from one lemon
1/4 avocado
1-2 tablespoons rolled oats

Cut open the avocado, remove the pit and mix all together in a bowl. Apply for 30 minutes four times a week for best results. Rinse off with warm water.

The avocado helps prevent dryness that can lead to acne and aging. The oats will help soak up any bacteria and also reduce inflammation.

Lemon – Agave Age Spot Remover for Hands

1/2 cup cooked rice
1 Tablespoon agave nectar
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Mix together all the ingredients and blend well. Apply the mixture to dry hands in a circular motion. Wash your hands off with warm water, followed by cold water. Pat your face dry. Put the remaining scrub into a jar and store in your refrigerator for future use.

Lemon juice contains acids that reduce bacteria and lower inflammation. Agave is rich in glycol acid and helps soothe irritated skin.

Basil Toner

3 tablespoons dried basil leaves
boiling water

Crush up the basil leaves and mix them into 1 cup of boiling water. Once the mixture cools, strain out the leaves, put into a spray bottle and spritz your skin. Use a cotton ball or pad to spread the toner gently around your face.

Basil has been known to brighten complexions, heal fine lines, unclog your pores, fade dark spots and help with acne prone skin.
