You typically don’t associate waxing services with black men but with the rise is men’s skin care, this service has its place.

Waxing services for black men is increasing in popularity as they turn to skin care professionals for the removal of unwanted body hair.  Everything from uni-brows to hair between their toes, some men have been trimming and shaving unwanted hair for years in the privacy of their homes.

Who and What gets waxed?

What types of men get waxing services?   Prevalent within the sporting community amongst swimmers, body builders and cyclist, waxing has gained popularity outside this arena.

From builders to bankers, the personal reasons for waxing are as diverse as the guys who get them done.

Guys with piercings and tattoos are a captive audience, because waxing allows them to show off their artwork.

But for the most part unless you’re an athlete or a man who wants a specific waxing treatment done on intimate areas, most services are for brows, arms, backs and chest.

Hair that is waxed has a tendency to last longer, meaning, it doesn’t grow back as fast.

My first male client came in for treatment when I was training to be an esthetician.  There were two of us working on him.  He was an athlete, cycling and swimming and we questioned the man to no end.

Thankfully for us he didn’t mind.  It was the best class I’ve ever gotten on hair removal with waxing for men.

He explained what happened when he took a fall in Europe during a cycling event and how recuperation in the hospital was more challenging because of the hair that continued to grow in his cuts and bruises on the broken leg.   This hair grew inward and outward

He vowed to never participate in another race without first removing all of his body hair.

Fortunately, male waxing is quick and easy.  I don’t know about waxing your head though.  This is still an area of the body where men choose to shave the hair off.

I’d love to hear from more of you and learn about your waxing experiences!  Okay, maybe not all of your waxing experiences.
