Oh the weather outside is … well that will all depend on where you live.  But your skin care regimen will be very important whether it’s cold or hot.  For some it’s the beginning of a New Year for others a “New Year” is when ever you decide it is.  But what are your skin care goal?

African American Skin and Your New Years Goals

  • Establish a skin care regimen. Every serious athlete has a workout/training regimen.  Your skin is no different.  If you want to see results, whether it’s getting acne under control or ridding yourself of a few dark spots, a good regimen is important.

  • Feed your skin with good nutrition.  Healthy skin is the result of healthy eating.  You are what you eat and the better the quality of foods you take in, the better your skin will look.

  • Eliminate stress!  Ha Ha …I know sometimes you can’t even wake up without being greeted with stress.  For some the fact that it’s 18 degrees outside is stressful.  For others, your job is not the greatest environment,  but you can work through all of this.  If you don’t your skin will begin to tell you just how stressful the situation is for you. You’ll begin to see breakouts and blotchy skin and that’s  just the beginning.

  • Work your body, work your body.  Yes, exercise is extremely important to the beauty of your skin.  Without breaking a sweat, you’re not  able to release certain toxins from your skin.  Exercise helps in creating great blood circulation thereby filtering the flow of blood and oxygen to your skin.  Hence, that beautiful “Glow” that you now possess when you look in the mirror, is just one of the results of a body in motion.

  • If weight loss is one of your goals this year, approach it with common sense.  Yo Yo diets are not good for your skin.  You loose 10 pounds then you gain 20 because your plan wasn’t done with patience.  I have a client who lost 100 pounds but it took her a year.  She was patient with herself and her skin didn’t go through  excessive trauma.

Yes it’s a New Year and a New You and your beautiful black skin will be the greatest recipient of your actions.
