When does melanin rich skin begin to mature? The mirror has a way of providing us with a reality check like no other. As we age, our skin goes through many changes. These changes are especially apparent in those of us with melanin-rich skin. We tend to be more susceptible to certain types of damage and aging.
Dark Spots
One of the most common changes that occur in melanin-rich skin as it ages is the development of dark spots. These dark spots, also called age spots or sun spots, are areas of skin that have been damaged by the sun or other sources of ultraviolet (UV) light.
While they may not be harmful, dark spots can be unsightly and make us look older than we actually are. There are a number of ways to treat dark spots, including topical creams and serums.
Fine Lines and Wrinkles
In addition to dark spots, another common change that occurs in aging melanin-rich skin is the development of fine lines and wrinkles. Like dark spots, these lines and wrinkles are caused by damage from the sun and other sources of UV light.
While they may not be harmful, they can certainly make us look older than we actually are. There are a number of ways to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, including topical creams, serums, fillers, and laser therapy.
You might want to tread waters lightly with fillers and laser therapy. When it comes to aging, oftentimes, wanting to hold on to a youthful appearance can be blinding. You ask for more filler and end up looking swollen ALL the time. Laser therapy can often burn melanin rich skin, young or old.
The more natural your approach to fine lines and wrinkles, the better.
Uneven Skin Tone
Melanin rich skin can have uneven skin tones young or old. Yet it seems that the older we get the more we find our skin displaying unevenness with our complexions. Medication, too much salt, dehydration, diabetes and simply eating the wrong foods can cause uneven skin tones.
Healthy eating habits can correct a lot of these causes. Leafy greens, fruits and lots of water can often help you achieve an even complexion over time.
Loss of Elasticity
Another common change that occurs in aging melanin-rich skin is a loss of elasticity. This means that your skin becomes less able to snap back into place after being stretched or pulled.
This can lead to the development of sagging skin, particularly around your jawline and neck. There are a number of ways to improve the appearance of sagging skin, including topical creams and serums.
Melanin-rich skin is susceptible to a number of changes as it ages. These changes include dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and a loss of elasticity. While they may not be harmful, these changes can certainly make us look older than we actually are.
There are a number of ways to reduce the appearance of these changes, including topical creams and serums, fillers, and laser therapy. However, the best way to reduce the appearance of aging in melanin-rich skin is to prevent it in the first place.
This can be done by protecting your skin from the sun and other sources of UV light. Wearing sunscreen, hats, and long-sleeved clothing can help to protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun.
In addition to protecting your skin from the sun, you should also take care to eat a healthy diet and avoid smoking.
While the changes that occur in aging melanin-rich skin can be unsightly, there are a number of ways to improve the appearance of your skin. With the right treatment plan, you can help your skin look its best at any age.
If you are concerned about the changes that are occurring in your skin, be sure to talk to an esthetician or dermatologist. They can certainly help you with your skin.
