The black skin care industry has a lot of available black skin care products that claim to get rid of dark spots on African American skin.
Before you go out and buy another product that sits in your medicine cabinet because you spent way too much money on something that is not very effective in eliminating the dark spots on your skin, it is important to understand what made the black marks and why they are on your skin.
Dermatologists call the dark marks “post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation.” They usually appear at the site of a healed or healing acne lesion. The darkening of the skin is due to the skin’s overproduction of melanin (what gives skin color) and is a normal reaction to trauma caused to or inflicted upon dark skin.
If you have acne-prone dark skin, you are quite familiar with these dark spots. It doesn’t even matter if you leave the pimples alone or if you mess with them – the dark marks eventually appear no matter what you do to the acne. It’s just what your body does.
All is not hopeless, however. Now that you know what causes the black marks/dark spots and why, you can look for a black skin care product that will prevent any more marks from forming while erasing the existing marks.
A good black skin care product to start with is your face cleanser. Use a mild, non-abrasive yet deep-cleaning black skin care facial wash that will work to get rid of acne-causing bacteria. Green Tea Facial Cleansers have the right combination of ingredients that kill the acne-causing bacteria. It also acts as a powerful antioxidant, and leaves your face feeling smooth and fresh.
Another black skin care product to add to your daily routine is an antioxidant face scrub, preferably with jojoba. Jojoba deep cleans and moisturizes without clogging pores or scratching your skin (leaving more dark marks instead of taking them away).
The unique healing properties of jojoba balances the pH of your skin, kills the acne-causing bacteria, and gets rid of the dark marks from scarring and skin irritations in a very short period of time. Native Americans used jojoba for centuries as a healing aid. Jojoba Facial Scrubs are mild enough to use daily, and strong enough to scrub off thick makeup.
So get rid of those alcohol-based and very abrasive black skin care products from your shelf. You don’t need to dry your skin out like a raisin to get rid of acne, and you don’t need to scratch it up to get rid of scarring. You just need the right black skin care products that pamper and indulge your delicate skin the way it should be.
