Looking for a great scented body scrub recipe? Do you find yourself needing to get-a-way and do nothing? While it’s not always possible to actually pack up, get on a plane and disappear for a week, it is possible to go into your bathroom, lock the door and give yourself a pamper me hour or so.
I have these retreats with myself quite often. They actually help me bring some solace into my life when I’m having a stressful moment or two. Other than going to the spa itself, My bathroom has always provided a safe haven for me to escape. One of my greatest pleasures is to give myself a body scrub.
No only do body scrubs make your skin soft and subtle, when done properly, they help to remove dead skin cell buildup. Did you know that dead skin cells can cause your skin to appear ashy and gray? My base is always Epsom salt. It’s a magnesium based salt not sodium based. You can use it for everything from bath soaks to gardening. When mixed with almond or grapeseed oil both of which are light, moisturizing oils, you’ve got the beginnings of a body scrub that won’t leave your skin feeling greasy. I love the way my skin feels afterwards.
You can find both of these oils in your local grocery or health food stores. Ready for a simple recipe you can make for yourself?
Scented Body Scrub Recipe
1 cup of Epsom salt
1/2 cup apricot kernel oil
8 – 10 drops of therapeutic grade grapefruit essential oil
1 teaspoon dried crushed rosemary
A small bowl
A jar
Instructions:
Mix all of the ingredients together in a small bowl. Transfer the ingredients to an airtight jar for storing and gifting. Stir before using because your oil and salt will separate. Gently massage a small amount onto your wet skin in a circular motion, then rinse with warm water.
Things to remember about essential oils:
Grapefruit is a citrus oil and citrus essential oils can cause possible skin sensitivity, especially in sunlight.
If you’re pregnant or taking any kind of prescriptions, consult your physician before using.
Take time to enjoy the beauty of a body scrub, your skin will love you for it. That’s it for this week. As always …
