I’m always on a quest to find and provide the best information for you to care for your beautiful black skin. After talking with a lot of you this past week, I’ve decided to share some of the key points that you touched on.
I find that if one of you has and idea or suggestion, there are many of you that will benefit from it.
This week the calls were all about ingredients. As natural as the ingredients are that I put in our products, there are some of you that are allergic to them. Whaaat? Some one is allergic to natural ingredients? Yes. As strange as it might sound, some of you are allergic to aloe vera. Others can’t handle the natural state of pure raw Shea butter.
However, for those of you that like and can handle natural ingredients, lets take a look at 5 of them and their benefits.
Shea Butter – You’re no stranger to the fact that Shea butter can actually restore your skin’s elasticity. It enables your skin to absorb moisture from the air and this allows your skin to become softer and stay moisturized longer.
I often combine Shea butter with cocoa, and mango butter. The three butters are great for eczema, extremely dry skin and psoriasis.
Honey – This sweet substance is used in food and cosmetics. The vitamins and minerals found in honey will nourish a clogged and muddy complexion and bring a fresh and radiant glow to your skin.
Honey is also known to destroy bacteria and can help soothe inflamed skin. The Honey Masque will certainly soothe and nourish your beautiful black skin.
Jojoba Oil – While this is technically a liquid wax, jojoba oil is extracted from the seed of the jojoba tree. Jojoba oil is much like the natural oil found in your skin. It will not clog your pores and helps balance the production of your skin’s oil.
Some of you have actually said that jojoba oil minimizes fine lines and wrinkles and promotes suppleness to your skin while aiding in its rejuvenation. The good thing about jojoba oil is that it does not aggravate acne.
Sugar – You’re kidding, right? Sugar for your skin? If you’ve ever used the Body Butter Scrub from my product line, you’ll know that it has turbinado sugar in it. In conjunction with the sea salt and natural oils, the combination makes a great exfoliant for your skin.
Sugar actually dissolves in your hand as you are using it to exfoliate your skin and is gentle enough to use on sensitive skin.
Water – Did you know that 90% of your body is water? Not only does water keep you clean, it helps keep your skin hydrated and helps eliminate toxins from your body. It’s recommended that you drink half your body’s weight in water.
In skin care products, hydrosols are where you will find water. The Rosewater toner was created to soften, soothe and hydrate your skin after cleansing. As a toner, it brings your skin pH level back into balance. For the men that use the Rosewater toner, they’ve expressed that they like how it makes their skin feel after shaving.
That’s it for this week. As always …
