Natural Hair Serum for African American HairOkay, so you know that you need to use essential oils to grow your natural hair, and you know to dilute them before using. The question is, what do you use to dilute essential oils, and how much essential oil do you put in the solution?  Keep reading and you’ll find the answers to your questions.

If you’re a do-it-yourself type person, wait no more. I have essential oil recipes for you that will stimulate your natural hair growth. If you would rather not make it yourself, no need to worry. You can also purchase a pre-mixed essential oil product specifically formulated for the care of African American hair.

Before we continue, if you suffer from significant hair loss, please see a medical practitioner in case the underlying reason for your hair loss is due to an illness or disease. Normal hair loss is 20-100 strands per day. This loss increases with age because hormone production slows down as you get older.

If your hair loss is due to acute stress, menstrual cycle, or the use of synthetic chemicals in your hair care products, then using natural black hair care products with essential oils may help repair the damage already caused and help you grow natural hair.

First, use a cleansing shampoo or cleansing oil to remove the buildup in your hair and scalp.

Use an essential oil based shampoo. You may have to experiment with different oils to find the perfect blend or scent for your hair. If you are pregnant or lactating, please read warning labels on the essential oil prior to using.

Now, for the recipes. All of these are designed for regular or daily use. These essential oil hair treatments can be massaged into a wet or dry scalp and left for at least 30 minutes (or overnight).

1. If you have a normal scalp, blend 2 ounces of jojoba oil with 2 ounces of coconut oil. Add 64 drops of Lavender essential oil, 64 drops Rosemary essential oil, and 16 drops of Sage essential oil.

2. If you are a mature woman and wish to continue the healthy growth of your natural hair, use 2 ounces of Jojoba oil, 1 ounce of Evening Primrose, and 1 ounce of Rosehip Seed as your carrier oil. Then add 48 drops of Lavender essential oil, 48 drops Rosemary essential oil, 48 drops Carrot essential oil, and 24 drops Sage essential oil.

3. For men suffering from hair loss, blend 1 ounce each of Evening Primrose, Coconut, Rosehip Seed and Sesame oils for your carrier oil. Then add 64 drops Carrot essential oil, 32 drops Rosemary essential oil, 27 drops Helichrysum essential oil, 12 drops Clove essential oil, 32 drops German Chamomile essential oil, 48 drops Lavender essential oil, and 20 drops Cypress essential oil.

4. For Alopecia Areata sufferers, mix 2 ounces of Jojoba and Grapeseed oils for your carrier oil. To this, add 32 drops of each essential oil: Lavender, Thyme, Cedarwood, and Rosemary.

5. If you have thick hair, mix 1.3 ounces each of Jojoba, Coconut and Sesame oils for your carrier. Add 48 drops of each essential oil to the carrier oil: Lavender, Rosemary, and Ylang Ylang.

Go ahead – give one of them a try!  While the recipes sound all nice and everything, some of you may not feel like putting out the energy or the effort.  That’s ok, I’ve done the work for you.  You can always buy the herbal hair growth serum that’s been blended for your hair.

As always …
