Eyeliners and MascaraIt’s that time of the year when parties will be on your list for the next 30 or more days. What better way to use make up and give your eyes that “It” factor. What’s the “It” factor that the eyes have?

Whether it’s smokey eyes, Cleopatra eyes, glam eyes or minimalist eyes, your make up can give your eyes a look that sets the mood for what ever the affair you’re attending.

The new buzz word in eye makeup is “sharp” or “arrowed eyes”. Nothing new just different words. You see this look when Cleopatra, Nefertiti and other Queens are shown on temple walls in Egypt. But there are a few tips that will help in achieving the look you want.

Using the right tools:

Eye Liners – High pigment products such as eye liners help you create defined lines. However, the thicker the liner is applied the more likely the traditional liner is to crack or flake.

Gel eyeliners are the new popular products to hit the market lately. They’re formulated to give you more hydration and stay in place longer, which allows for flexibility when applying it.

Brushes – Finding a brush that will lay at the base of your inner lash line and allow you to drag it forward is key. An angled brush or thin liner brush will also give you definition.

Styl’in and Profil’in with Eye Liner Looks

The Thick Glam Look – When applied correctly, the liner will actually elongate the lash line.

You create a thick line across the top of your lid and extend it at the end, lifting it slightly. Use liquid gel or cream-to-powder. Make sure you have a brush with a sharp enough edge to give you a fine point at the end.

The Wave – An updated version that is reminiscent of the 80’s, uses a hard edged black liner to extend out from the corner of your eye to a fine point.

Start from the inner corner of your eye and pull the liner across the lash line, straight out towards your temples. This technique requires skill so take you time. Use a liquid or gel liner but your brush will be key here. It should have a fine point to apply the liner.

The Fade Away – This is a nice variation of the Cat Eye. The shadow starts dark and then fades away to a subtle point.

You’d begin by saturating your eye shadow and create a thick line from your lashes to just below the brow bone. Pull it past your eye and wing it out blending it down to nothing at the end.

The more creative and daring you are the better you’ll look in your eyeliner looks. Whether you step it up or scale it down, make the look something that you’ll be comfortable wearing.

That’s it for this week, As always …
