Has your man joined the ranks of those that are seriously concerned about their looks?
Did you know that just a few years ago grooming products for men in general, let alone black men, were geared toward men that were looking for a facial moisturizer or hair pomade?
Guess who’s headed to the salon for skin care treatments? Youuuu got it, your man!
In today’s world of caring for your skin, 50% of men are using some type of grooming product and actually making the purchase themselves.
Engaging your senses
Men like things that smell good just like we do, so why not help the brotha with choices. Better you than the “sales associate” behind the counter.
I remember doing some research in the men section of a well known big box perfume, skin care store.
My husband was with me and every question I asked the “sales associate”, the answer was directed to him.
For a brief moment, I became the invisible woman!
With diplomacy I told the “sales associate” that I would be providing the treatments so it would be to her advantage to speak to me.
Now, back to smelling good and engaging senses. The aroma of a skin care product, especially those geared to the body, can determine whether or not it’s purchased.
Even though a product might be good for your skin, if it doesn’t have an pleasing aroma it could kill the sale.
Sandalwood, coffee, patchouli, fresh grass, cucumber even rose are all scents that men have an affinity towards.
What about the Male Ego?
In general men have become increasingly aware of the fact that their personal grooming habits can affect the way they’re perceived.
Grooming habits can make or break everything from a date to a job interview.
One of the main reasons for getting a facial is to remove deep imbedded dirt which allows your skin to have a youthful glow.
The main words here are “youthful glow”. Taking care of your skin can help you look younger and healthier.
Not only does a good facial bring out the youth in you but dressing in fabrics and suits that are cut to enhance your physical appearance without being too overt will also put you higher on the list of choices.
Keeping the regimen “Simple” works for men and women.
In today’s world economy, the simpler you keep your life and all of its activities, the easier it will make your life. Your skin care regimen is no different.
Cleanse ,exfoliate, tone and moisturize.
A good cleanser will remove the dirt and grime from your face and prepare it for the exfoliation process.
Exfoliating your skin helps in removing dead skin cells. Without this step your skin will look dull, gray and ashy. If you’re challenged with in grown hairs, an exfoliating process will bring some of those hairs to the surface and make them easier to remove.
Using a toner will bring your skin back to a balanced pH level
Moisturizing you face on a daily basis helps with keeping your skin hydrated, soft and smooth.
