Are you taking care of your beautiful black skin’s forgotten places?
While we like to think that we take care of all of our blackness, that’s not always the case.
There are certain parts of your body that don’t often get the attention that it needs. Now if you’re privy to a Great Facial, a couple of these parts should be part of the facial. But that’s not always the case.
What are these forgotten places?
They are your ears, eyes, neck, décolleté, elbows, hands and feet. Lets talk about at least three of these forgotten places on your body.
The Neck – Even though you might take great care of your face, you can overlook your neck. Your neck should get the same attention as your face: cleanse, tone and moisturize.
Exfoliation and sunscreens are also important steps when it comes to taking care of your neck.
Keep in mind that your neck receives a lot of sun exposure when you’re driving. If you can stand a scarf around your neck or shoulders while driving it’s a good idea to do this to protect your neck, shoulders and upper arms from the sun.
The Décolleté – This is the area that falls below your neck and just above your breast. This area of your body should be included in a good facial. It should also receive daily care just as you would your face and neck.
Think about it, every time you wear a low cut dress, top or bikini for that matter, your décolleté is exposed. Do you ever think of exfoliating, hydrating or using a sunscreen on this part of your body ?
As you mature, gravity pulls your breast down, unfortunately, and the skin on your décolleté is pulled down as well. There is also a lot of sun damage to the décolleté when it’s exposed.
Exfoliating your décolleté will help reflect the healthy skin hidden underneath, eliminating the dead skin cells that are rarely removed.
Applying a good moisturizer and sunscreen will help this forgotten body part maintain its youthful appearance.
The Hands – Do you feel you’ve waited to long to take care of your hands. It’s never to late to start.
When you exfoliate your face and neck include that process on the top of your hands. It’s that simple! Just as with your face, when you exfoliate your hands, remove dead skin cells that often give your skin that dull, gray ashy look.
Wear gloves in cold weather this will go a long way in protecting the tops of your hands.
Lotion/moisturize your hands and wear a sunscreen. Your hands are at the forefront of everything you touch.
The Elbows – Moisturizing your elbows is one of the most important things you can do. Your elbows take a lot of wear and tear. They can be exfoliated but a gentle exfoliating product is suggested.
The Eyes – Technically you have no functioning oil glands directly under your eyes. Therefore you will need to use a cream, sparingly, in order to keep the tissue soft. Under eye and in the corner of your eyes is where you will find a need for eye creams.
The Ears – Cleansing the front and back of your ears is extremely important. When you don’t keep your ears clean, you will have build up that can cause congestion. This build up is the same as anywhere else, dead skin cells and oil build up.
Blackheads will form in and around your ears so exfoliating this area is a good idea. Sunscreens are just as important for the front and back of your ears.
These forgotten places on your body can be just as important as the rest of your body. Remember to give them the attention that’s given to the rest of your body. What you will find is a complete and whole body that’s soft, silky smooth and luxurious to the touch.
