Bare faced beauty. Yes indeed! One of the good things that came out of the COVID Pandemic, is the fact that the skin on your face had a chance to breathe. That is, when you weren’t masked up.
The pandemic made way for new or enhanced skin care regimens. One of which was definitely no makeup. Along with adopting the no makeup lifestyle, a lot of you noticed how much more subtle your skin became.
Why do you think that is? You also ate better and drank more water. For starters … that helped.
Then you had the chemicals in your makeup zapping the moisture from your skin. Another culprit, were the building’s you worked in.
Did you know that office buildings can zap the moisture out of your skin? It’s the same as being on an airplane. The filters aren’t changed as often as you think. The air is dry and often filled with bacteria particles that settle on your face.
When putting your best face forward, it all begins with a cream based cleanser and a moisturizer. Your skin has a natural moisture barrier. That barrier is meant to hold in water and nourish your skin. It also repels irritants in the air so that they don’t penetrate your skin.
If your skin is dry or flaky, it’s highly possible that your natural moisture barrier has been damaged. If this is the case, hold off on using exfoliants, or retinoid based products. You’ll bring them back once your skin has been nurtured and returned to its natural moisture level.
Here’s where you’ll introduce your skin to a hyaluronic acid based moisturizer. Did you know that hyaluronic acid holds up to 1000 times its weight in water for maximum hydration?
A few minutes of massaging the skin on your face, will increase your blood circulation and help drain excess fluids. This will help make your skin more firm and tighter.
A facial oil or serum will be needed because your skin will need slip, so that you’re not pulling and tugging on it.
Okay, for a lot of you, no more makeup will become your new normal. For those of you that are slowly returning to your work environments, you’re choosing to wear less makeup than before.
You’re realizing that the natural glow you’ve been looking for, has been hidden under your makeup all this time.
That’s it for this week. As always …
