AloeVeraSkin care can be very complex for some. There is oily skin, dry skin, and combination skin that is a mixture of both types. No matter what your skin type may be, it needs to be properly cared for.

Oftentimes, people of color have to deal with acne blemishes and dark spots that are difficult to get rid of. Blemishes tend to happen for a variety of reasons, and so does hyperpigmentation, patches of skin that are much darker than the rest of your complexion.

Many things are sold in stores to help with these issues but that doesn’t mean they are truly healthy for the skin. The best course of action is to use natural products because they work with the skin and have the right balance of strength and sensitivity.

The joys of an even complexion are tremendous. Beautiful skin makes you less self-conscious and more confident. It’s easier to take pictures and go out without makeup when you know you don’t have a lot of problem areas on display. A nice complexion also contributes to a more youthful and healthy look.

Understanding your skin type.

The first thing you should do before using any product is know your skin type. This is important because each type of skin needs to be cared for differently. If your skin type is dry, you may notice flaking and itching.

When skin is too dry, it can overproduce oil to compensate and break you out. Oily skin is usually shiny with a greasy feel and it clogs pores, leading to more skin issues. Then there is the dreaded combination skin, oily in certain spots and dry in others, requiring more intricate care.

So, how can you keep your skin naturally healthy without spending a fortune? Listed below are four products you can use for natural skin care.

An Exfoliator

Exfoliation can be a fun and refreshing weekly ritual that your skin will thank you for. The pores can be redefined by exfoliation, which improves the overall appearance of skin. Pores have the important task of controlling natural oils. If pores are not functioning properly, the balance of skin oils is affected and creates more problems.

A common practice at luxury spas, the benefits of exfoliation can be seen almost instantly with a healthier glow. Skin also becomes softer to the touch. Exfoliators come in different forms and there are different ways to do it, but they all serve the same purpose, which is removing the dead skin cells that build on our skin daily.

Vitamin E oil

Using Vitamin E oil works because it is contains a high level of moisture. It moisturizes beneath the skin and on the surface, helping to diminish the appearance of scars, dark spots, and stretch marks while preventing new ones from forming. It also actively combats the damage that the sun causes to skin.

The oil has an added benefit of making bags less visible under the eyes, because it will improve circulation to that area as it moisturizes and decreases inflammation. Due to its thick texture, it is best to use Vitamin E oil in small portions if you are prone to oily skin.

A Natural Cleanser

Washing the face is an important part of any skin care routine, and it is usually recommended to wash your face twice daily. Organic cleansers go deep into the skin and thoroughly cleanse it without being harsh and taking away the natural oils.

Combination skin does especially well with natural cleansing because it can work with any skin type as it removes harmful bacteria and excess oils while also balancing dry skin.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera stimulates your cells and it has anti-inflammatory qualities that work to lessen irritation and discoloration. It can help to balance melanin also, the cause of hyperpigmentation. Hyperpigmentation is a major complexion issue because it leaves visible dark areas on the face that stand out more than we would like.

Even more upsetting is when it appears on the upper lip and chin, two sensitive areas that we typically do not care to draw attention to. Besides fading hyperpigmentation, aloe vera is also used as a treatment for sunburn. Extracted from the aloe vera plant, it works for calming the skin and as therapeutic remedies.

Dermatologists and skin care therapist are available to help with complexion issues but after using nature-based products, you might find that you don’t have to spend the extra time or money on creams or procedures. Hiding complexion flaws is an option, but unfortunately, concealing them can only work for so long. You can’t hide your real skin forever, so why not let it be beautiful?

Using natural skin remedies gets underneath the skin without using chemicals that are foreign to the body and harmful in ways we may not even know about.

You can use these four natural products with little risk of allergic reactions, but always test anything new on a small area of skin first to make sure it agrees with you.  There’s beauty in your black skin, why not flaunt it?
