What do you see when you look in the mirror in the mornings? Do you see skin that is radiant, glowing and radiating good health? Or could it be that you are struggling with oiliness, uneven skin tones and have trouble putting on your makeup due to oily patches, lines and wrinkles?
If you are one of the lucky few, and don’t have any skin issues, you can just apply your makeup and get on with your day, but if you are one of the majority of black skinned people who is experiencing any of the challenges above, I’m here to help.
Skin care is my specialty, and African American skin care is my passion. Years of research and practice have gone into the seemingly simple advice I am about to give you, so please don’t be fooled by the simplicity of it.
The good news is that if you have oily skin, it won’t show the signs of aging as quickly as drier skin types. The BETTER news is that if you take active control of that natural oiliness and use it, and the right products on a daily basis, you can look younger for longer and longer, your makeup will flow on without a problem and your skin tone will be even, smooth and beautiful.
So, what do you need to do to achieve such a happy state? As I said, it’s simple.
Rule No. 1 for Beautiful African American Skin care is: Have a daily routine – Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize – no excuses.
Rule No. 2 for Beautiful African American Skin care is: Use only products developed especially for African American skin and contain natural ingredients.
Rule No. 3 is – if in doubt follow the first 2 Rules!
Whether you’re controlling oil production or looking for a simple process to have radiant, flawless skin, it’s about cleansing, toning and moisturizing. Follow this simple regimen at least once a day, or twice a day if you have a problem with breakouts caused by over production of oil.
Please, don’t fall into the trap of choosing your skin care products on how they smell, unfortunately many of the products out there are made to smell “nice” but they contain harsh chemicals in their scent, in their pigments and base ingredients. These chemically based skin products work towards the opposite of what you are trying to achieve by stripping oil from your skin, tricking the oil glands into believing there is a drought and producing more and more oil.
There you have it, a simple, effective skin care routine that will last you a lifetime and, if used on a daily basis will keep your skin glowing, healthy and radiant long after those who neglected this advice will look older than you.
Remember, a simple skin care regimen can be the most effective approach for Beautiful African American Skin.
