I love seeing beautiful black women especially the mature ones of you. You’re like Satin Dolls moving about with grace and ease.
You show us that beauty has no age limit and that you shouldn’t put a cap on your looks just because you’ve reached a certain number.
I saw the new “Face” for MAC cosmetics, she’s 90 years old. She’s not African American but I mention her here because of her youthful age.
She hasn’t missed a beat … brow’s arched, nails done, pixy hair cut, not to mention the baubles, bangles and beads, she wears She’s a doll!
Don’t you miss Essence magazines tribute to African American women in the different age categories? I certainly do!
I also miss the high style and beautiful fabrics that used to be worn by black women. There was a time when African American women dressed to the nine’s. Everything was impeccable!
Now we walk around in cheap fabrics that cling to our bodies like cello wrap. You’ve seen it and you’ve more than once commented on it. Funny right?
You’re maturing … your body … your face … your mind … everything about you is evolving. Your complete package is becoming a new you!
Is it time for a new skin care regimen for your maturing black skin?
How do I care for my beautiful black skin?
As you mature your skin will become dry for some and balance the oil production for others, but the important thing is to take action.
If you’ve never thought about caring for your skin before, now is as good a time to start as any.
But with maturing skin, you will want to add an exfoliating process and serum to your regimen.
Exfoliate Your Maturing Black Skin
As your skin matures, the process by which your cells renew themselves is slowed down. Instead of new cells replenishing every 28 to 30 days, it can take up to 40 days and sometimes longer for new cells growth.
This means that unless you exfoliate and remove the dead skin cells that are sitting on your skin waiting for new ones to push the old ones out, your skin will begin to look gray, ashy and dull.
When you exfoliate your skin, it removes the build up and your youthful glow shines through.
When I say youthful glow, I’m referring to the light and life that returns to your skin after a great facial.
You will not have the skin of an 18 year old and who’s to say you’d want it but you will have skin that’s beautiful and healthy looking for your years giving you the appearance of a younger being.
A gentle facial scrub or fruit peel will work wonders for your skin. These techniques are gentle yet effective for mature skin.
Serums and Mature Black Skin
Serums are like feeding your skin vitamins. A good serum will nourish your skin penetrating into the deeper layers adding moisture that relieves that cracked dry look.
Yes, your black will crack if you don’t take care of your skin.
Serums are just one of the ways that you can nourish your skin and provide topically what it needs for optimum health.
Nutrition and Your Beautiful Black Skin
No skin care regimen is complete without a good nutrition plan, after all, beautiful skin begins from within.
You’ve heard the cliché , “You are what you eat”. It’s true! Green foods … broccoli, kale, spinach, collards, asparagus, all berries, green tea and most importantly …Water!
Water is like an internal cleanser. It will remove toxins and sludge from your body and the more of these that you remove the better you will feel and the prettier and healthier your skin will look.
